    Samuel S. Betzner "was born October 8th, 1835. He was married to Leah Bowman. They resided on the west end of his father's farm where he was engaged in farming. During the winter months he was engaged as a public school teacher. On May 10th, 1866, he died of consumption, leaving a wife and family of four children, namely: V Edmund (dead), V Allan, V Mary (dead), and V Lizzie"

They resided about two miles east of Breslau where he died May 10, 1866. They had four children, namely: Edmund (dead), Allan, Mary (dead), and Lizzie. After his death she married Christian Clemens. They reside near Caledonia, Michigan, where he is engaged in farming. With her second husband she had six children".

She was born June 4th, 1810, and died February 25th, 1882. Shortly after their married they moved on the farm now possesses by their son Jacob, about two miles east of Breslau, where he died May 8th, 1879. Their family consisted of eight children"

    Betzner - February 25th in Waterloo Co., Ontario, of heart disease, Sister Eliza widow of Bro. Samuel Betzner, dec,d, aged 71 years, 8 mos. and 21 days. She was buried in Cressman's grave-yard near Breslau. She was a charitable sister, and was followed to the grave by a large number of friends, showing their high esteem for the departed one. Services in German by J. Woolner, and in English by David Sherk.

    Elias Bowman, "(son of No. 34 and same as No. 46) the seventh son of Rev. Joseph and Maria (Bechtel) Baumann, was born in Berks County, Pennsylvania, May 28th, 1809. In 1816 he came to Canada with his parents who settled at Blair, in this County (See No. 34). In the year 1829 he was married to Polly, daughter of Jacob and Susannah (Dierstein) Clemens. She was born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, July 12, 1811, came to Canada with her parents in 1826, and died in Kent County, Michigan, May 28th, 1886. Soon after their marriage they moved on the farm now possessed by Simon Schiedel and Moses S. Cressman (each party possessing a part), near Breslau. Here they resided until March, 1863, when they sold their farm and moved to Kent County, Michigan, where he died August 21st, 1875. They have had a family of fourteen children, all born in the county of Waterloo"

    BOWMAN. - On the 28th of May, in Gaines Twp., Kent Co., Mich., of the infirmities of old age, Polly, widow of Elias Bowman, aged 74 years, 10 months and 16 days. She was born on the 12th of July, 1811, in Bucks Co., Pa. In childhood, with her father Jacob Clemens, she moved to Waterloo Co., Ontario, which was then a wilderness. In the year 1829 she was joined in marriage to Elias Bowman of the same place. To them were born eight sons and six daughters, ten of whom are yet living. In 1863, she with her husband, moved to Mich., where she has since resided. She embraced religion in early life was united to the Mennonite church, and lived a consistent life. She also had the joy of seeing all her children embrace religion. She was buried on the 31st of May at the Gaines U. B. Meeting house, where an immense congregation had assembled to pay their last tribute of respect to this beloved "mother of Israel." Funeral services were held by H. T. Barnaby.

    Historic Building:
    The Betzner Farmstead, composed of a farmhouse, drive shed and cultural heritage landscape, is located at 437 Pioneer Tower Road, in the southeast end of the City of Kitchener. The two-storey farmhouse was designed in the Mennonite Georgian style by John Betzner, and the accessory drive shed was designed in the utilitarian and vernacular style typical of pioneer farmsteads. Both buildings were constructed in circa 1830.

She came to Canada when nineteen years of age and on July 6th, 1804, she was married to John, son of old Samuel Betzner. He was born May 7th, 1783, and died November 3rd, 1852. They resided on a farm opposite Doon. She died on September 22nd, 1843. They had a family of five children".

    Joseph Baumann, "the fourth son of Christian Baumann, was born in Berks County, Pennsylvania, July 19th, 1766. He was married to Mary Baer, who was born January 23rd, 1772, and died October 29th 1842. In 1802 he was ordained as minister of the Mennonite body. He was a good man, and his sermons always made a deep impression upon the audiences who assembled at places of worship on Sabbath days. In May, 1816, he with his family moved to Canada and settled near Blair, Ontario. The family consisted of thirteen children."

    Jacob Clemens, "the third son of Abraham and Mary (Steiner) Clemens, was born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, February 9th, 1788. He was married to Susannah Dierstein. On February 3rd, 1810, his brothers and sisters conveyed by release to him the dwellings together with seventy-six acres of land, being part of the old homestead. Here he resided until April 7th, 1825, when he and his wife sold the farm to Henry Ziegler for $2933. After selling his farm he and his family, together with others, moved to Canada and settled in Waterloo County, opposite Breslau, on the farm now owned by Joseph Cressman, where he resided until his death which occurred April 8th, 1876. His wife was born November 11, 1789, and died September 24th 1861. To them were born Three children, all born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania."
