It was decided to erect a new building and a lot was purchased for this purpose. The men performed most of the labour themselves, chopping down the timber that was needed and bricks came in by train. Dedication took place in November 1903 packed with people who arrived on horse and buggy"

The death of Robert Eltherington, widely known resident of this district occurred in Dereham on Monday in his 91st year. The funeral took place this afternoon at 1: 30 from the residence of his grandson, Mr. George Harrison, to the Ingersoll Rural Cemetery.

DEATH OF ROBERT ELTHERINGTON

The death of Robert Eltherington took place at the residence of his grandson, George Harrison, lot 12, concession 3, Dereham, on June 30th in the 91st year of his age. He was a member of Ingersoll for a number of years. He was born in Yorkshire, England, and came to Canada over thirty years ago. He was highly respected by many friends who learned with regret of his death. His wife predeceased him sixteen years ago. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, July 2nd to the Ingersoll Rural Cemetery. The pallbearers were sic of his grandsons: George, William, and Charles Harrison, Thomas and Robert Dales and Arthur Eltherington.

MRS. ROBERT ELTHERINGTON--The funeral of Mrs. Eltherington took place from the family residence, North Oxford [township], on Sunday afternoon and was largely attended. The services were conducted by the Salvation Army of which deceased had been a consistent member for some years, the SA band heading the cortege. The late Mrs. Eltherington was born at Newball, Yorkshire, England, on the 3rd of June, 1828, and consequently was in her 69th year. At the age of 52 she came to Canada with her husband and settled in North Oxford [township], where she has resided ever since. She was converted to God when 16 years of age and associated herself with the Primitive Methodist Church. Upon coming to this neighborhood, she joined the Bible Christian church, and at the time of the union became a member of the Charles Street Methodist Church. Some years later she withdrew from that church and joined the Salvation Army of which she was for a lengthened period and until her decease a consistent and valued member. About 2 years ago her heart began to trouble her, but she was able to attend to her regular duties until 6 weeks ago, when her ailment became more severe and she was confined to the house, passing away to her long rest on Friday. Deceased was a kind, loving mother and devoted wife, and was held in high respect by all. She will be deeply missed by those who are left to mourn her loss. Besides a husband, she leaves a grown up family of five children to mourn her loss. They are as follows: Robert and William of Hespeler; James of Ingersoll; Mrs. Philip Dales, Ingersoll; and Mrs. John Harrison, Dereham [township]. Two have passed away. Sarah, who died about 14 years ago and George about 12 years. The Chronicle extends deepest sympathy to the bereaved family
