    Enoch D. Snyder, "was born February 28th, 1835. On October 27th, 1857, he was married to Sophia, daughter of David and Susannah (Bergey) Schwartz. She was born June 12th, 1834, and died in Middlesex County, April 21st, 1877. On February 16th, 1879, he was again married to Priscilla Scheifley who was born March 22nd, 184. They reside near Roseville, Ontario, where he is engaged in farming."

    SNYDER - Near Roseville, N. Dumfries Twp., Waterloo Co., Ont., of inflammation of the lungs, Bro. Enoch Snyder, aged 64 years, 10 months, and some days. On Tuesday, Jan. 16, he was at the funeral of Sister Shantz, wife of David Shantz, but took sick before he reached home. In spite of all that medical skill could do, he grew worse. Friday morning, the 19th, death made an end of his intense sufferings. Buried on the 22d at the Roseville (Detweiler's) burying ground. He was twice married and leaves a sorrowing wife, 5 sons and 4 daughters to mourn the loss of a kind husband and a dear father. Services by D. Wismer and Jonas Snyder. He was a faithful member of the Mennonite Church for many years.

    Died At his residence, North Dumfries Township, on Friday, January 19th, 1900 at 9.30 p.m., Enoch Snyder, aged 64 years, 10 months, 19 days. Funeral Will take place from his late residence, on Monday, January 22nd, at 1.30 p.m., to the Roseville Cemetery for interment. Friends and acquaintances will please accept this intimation.

    DEATH OF ENOCH SNYDER.

    The death of Enoch Snyder, an old resident of North Dumfries, after a brief iliness of three days with inflamation of the lungs, took place at his home near Roseville on Friday. Mr. Snyder who was born at Roseville, was 64 years of age, and had owned and operated successfully the farm on which he died, for 20 years. Previous to that he had conducted the St. Jacobs woollen mills for a time. Mr. Snyder was twice married, and leaves a family of 5 sons and 4 daughters. Five of his children are still at home and of the others, one son is in Hamilton, one in Oregon, and one at Roseville, and one daughter, Mrs. E. Rosenberger resides in Michigan.

    Christian Schenider, "was born August 28th, 1758. In 1789 he was married to Elizabeth, daughter of Christian and Maria (Scherch) Erb (See No. 2777). She was born in Warwick Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, January 23rd, 1770, and died in Waterloo County, Ontario, September 29th, 1818. In 1806 they, in company with others, emigrated to Canada and settled in Waterloo County, Ontario, near where now is the village of Doon. Here he resided for a number of years. It was his intention to construct a dam across the creek flowing through his plantation and have a grist mill erected thereon. But in order to have the desired "head of water" he found that the "back water" would flood a few acres of Mr. Biehn's swamp adjoining that of his (Mr. Schneider's) property, This, although worth nothing, or comparatively little, Mr. Biehn would not sell to Mr. Schneider and thus prevented the building of a grist mill. Mr. Schneider died August 6th, 1850, leaving a family of eleven children"

    Notes:

    Jacob Detweiler," second son of Jacob and Mary (Funk) Detweiler, was a native of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, where he was born November 25th, 1778. On December 15th, 1803, he was married to Susannah Rosenberger who was born in the same county as Mr. Detweiler, January 15th, 1781. When a young man he was called to the ministry of the Mennonite body, but when the Funkite question was brought up he would not give his decision in favor of either party. However, after his coming to Canada he was an active worker in behalf of the Mennonite church until his death. In 1822 they, with others, moved to Canada and settled in North Dumfries Township, Waterloo County, a little west of Roseville, on the farm now possessed by their grand-son, Aaron B. Detweiler. Here they resided until their deaths. She died September 9th, 1847, and he died August 8th, 1858. To them was born a family of ten children"

    A-2-1 Jacob Detweiler Sr. Last Will and Testament of Jacob Detweiler the Elder, formerly of the Township of North Dumfries, Yeoman, deceased…the will is committed to Samuel Snyder and Benjamin Snyder, both of the Township of North Dumfries, Yeomen, the Executors named therein…

    I, Jacob Detweiller Senior of the Township of North Dumfries…First I Will and ordain that my funeral expenses and all my just debts shall be paid as soon as possible on convenient after my decease. I Will and ordain that all the residue of my estate shall be divided into nine equal shares or portions and that my sons and daughters shall have each a share, and that the children of my deceased daughters Elizabeth and Nancy have one share each which has to be distributed equally amongst them, but the shares of those who are under age to remain in the hands of the Executors on interest to be delivered over to them when they arrive at the years of majority. And also that my daughter Susanna's portion of legacy be kept in the hands of the Executors when they think that she or her heirs will most need it. And that my two sons Enoch and Benjamin shall have their portions after all the rest of my family have had their portions or legacies. Lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my two sons in law, Samuel Snyder and Benjamin Snyder Executors of this my Last Will and Testament.

    Christian Schwartz, "was born in Tonamencin Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, August 20th, 1784. He was married to Sophia Ruth who was born August 23rd, 1787, and died February 23rd 1880. During the early part of the present century they moved to Canada and settled in Waterloo County, near Preston, where they both died. He died May 12th, 1848.
