    With her family at her side, Minnie died peacefully at Fairview Mennonite Home on Friday, October 19, 2007 in her 97th year. Dear wife of the late Edward Witmer and beloved mother of Doris Duncan of Baden, Elizabeth Brodrecht and husband Ronald of Cambridge, Douglas Witmer and wife Patricia of New Hamburg, Mildred Ferguson and husband William of Toronto and Karen Farrow and husband Robert of St. George. Loving grandmother of Dwight Duncan, Debbie Stack (Paul), Greg Brodrecht (Laura), Mary-Beth Zeggil (Paul), Carolyn Witmer (Rob), Christine Witmer (Brian), Peter Witmer, Scott Ferguson (Anne), Sian Ferguson (John), Mark Ferguson (Brenda), Andrew Graham (Alison), Virginia Busch (Shane) and Andrew Farrow. She is also survived by 32 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Donald Duncan. Resting at the Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street, Cambridge where the family will receive friends on Sunday, October 28, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to take place at the Wanner Mennonite Church, Beaverdale Road, Cambridge on Monday, October 29, 2007 at 11 a.m. Interment Wanner Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Mennonite Central Committee or the Fairview Mennonite Home would be appreciated by the family. A special thank you to all the staff at Fairview Mennonite Home for their care and kindness.

    Witmer, J. Wesley, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Witmer, died at Hespeler, Ont., Feb. 14, 1960, after a lengthy illness; aged 80 y. 8 m. 18 d. He was married four times and his wives (Almeda Hallman, Selina Knechtel, Ada Bechtel, and Minnie Brooks) predeceased him. A son also preceded him in death. Surviving are 5 sons (William and Eldon, Kitchener; Vernon, Petersburg; Edward, Hespeler; and Melvin, Waterloo), 2 daughters (Luella--Mrs. Vernon Schott, Kitchener; and Grace--Mrs. Lloyd Sider, Wainfleet), one brother, 3 sisters 37 grandchildren, and 50 great-grandchildren. For 18 years he was superintendent of the Sunday school. In 1916 he was ordained deacon for the Latschar Church at Manheim and in 1922 was ordained as minister for the church, where he served as pastor until 1939. Later he moved to Hespeler and served as pastor of the Wanner congregation for 11 years. In his later years the conference appointed him as pastor of the Fairview Home for the aged at Preston. He served the Ontario Conference for many years on the Bible School Board and on the Rural Mission board, now known as the Mission Board of Ontario. Funeral services were held at the Erb Street Mennonite Church. Waterloo, in charge of Osiah Horst and J. B. Martin; burial at Latschar near Manheim.

    Witmer. - Almeda Hallman, beloved wife of J. W. Witmer, was born in Howick, Ont., and died in Petersburg, Ont., Nov. 28, 1920, in her 42nd year. She united with the Mennonite church when yet in her teens and was a faithful member till death. She leaves a deeply stricken husband, seven children (Vernon H., Luella Mae, Grace Viola, Edward H., William I., John E., and Melvin C.) and many relatives and friends. Morgan R. preceded her in death 2 years ago. Services were conducted at house and church by Bro. Manasseh Hallman. Buried in adjoining cemetery.

    Boshart.-Jonas, son of the late Peter and Magdalena Boshart, was born near Wellesley, Ont., Aug. 18, 1866; died Sept. 13, 1939; aged 73 y. 26d. On Sept. 29, 1889, he was married to Magdalena Gerber. To this union were born 12 children: Moses (who preceded his father in death), John, Nettie (Mrs. Moses Gingrich) of New York; Mary, at home, Lilly (Mrs. Ezra Brenneman), of Baden, Ont.; Menno, of Kitchener; Simon, of New York; Aaron, of Petersburg; Gideon of Baden; Luella (Mrs. Clarence Erb), of Tavistock; Elmina (Mrs. Edward Witmer) with whom they had been living; and Loretta (Mrs. Eldon Witmer) of Kitchener. There also survive 2 brothers (Daniel and Peter), 1 sister (Mrs. Moses Schlabach), 39 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. At the age of 15 years he united with the Amish Mennonite Church, serving the Lord and the church faithfully until about two years ago, when because of location he united with the Snyder congregation of the Mennonite Church near Bloomingdale, Ont., of which he was a faithful and loyal member until his death. After a prolonged illness and much suffering he peacefully passed away to be with his Lord. He left a bright, ringing testimony of his faith in Christ up to the very last.

    Mrs. Magdalena Boshart, a native of Wilmot township, died last Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward Witmer, Hespeler, at the age of 91 years, following a short illness. She was the former Magdalena Gerber and was born April 9, 1868, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gerber. Her husband, Jonas Boshart, predeceased her in 1939. Survivors include five sons, John of Watertown, N.Y., Menno of Kitchener, Simon of Lowville, N.Y., Aaron of Wellesley, Gideon of Baden; six daughters, Mrs. Witmer, Mrs. Moses (Netta) Gingerich of Glenfield, N.Y., Miss Mary, Mrs. Ezra (Lily) Brenneman and Mrs. Eldon (Lauretta) Witmer of Kitchener, Mrs. Clarence (Luella) Erb of Sebringville; five great, great-grandchildren, 78 great grandchildren and 39 grandchildren. One son, Moses, died in 1917. Eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren predeceased her. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon with service at the First Mennonite Church, Kitchener, of which the departed was a member. Rev. Edgar Metzler officiated and internment was in the St. Agatha A. M. cemetery.

    GREAT-GRANDMOTHER OF 88 PASSES AT 91 - by Record Correspondent

    HESPELER - Mrs. Magdalena Boshart, 91, of Hespeler, a great-great-grandmother of five, grandmother of 88, grandmother of 48, and mother of six sons and six daughters, died yesterday. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward (Elmina) Witmer of 28 Bella St., Hespeler. Born April 9, 1868, in Wilmot Township, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gerber. She was a member of First Mennonite Church. Her husband, Jonas Boshart, died in 1939. Survivors include five sons, John of Watertown, N.Y., Menno of Kitchener, Simon of Lowville, N.Y., Aaron of Wellesley, Gideon of Baden; six daughters, Mrs. Witmer, Mrs. Moses (Netta) Gingerich of Glenfield N.Y., Miss Mary, Mrs. Ezra (Lily) Brenneman and Mrs. Eldon (Lauretta) Witmer of Kitchener, Mrs. Clarence (Luella) Erb of Sebringville; five great-great-grandchildren, 79 great-grandchildren and 39 grandchildren. One son, Moses, died in 1917. Eight grandchildren predeceased her. The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, Kitchener, until Saturday noon when removal will be made to the church for funeral at 3 p.m. Rev. Edgar Metzler will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agatha Amish Mennonite Cemetery. Donations to the Gideons will be accepted as expressions of Sympathy.

Wesley, Petersburg, Ont.; Edmund, Kitchener, Ont.; and Mrs. Herbert Herner, who preceded him in death twenty-three years ago. These with 3 brothers (John, Listowel, Ont.; Benjamin of Sask.; Henry, Preston, Ont.), 1 sister (Mrs. Edward Grabiel, Fordwick, Ont.), 72 grandchildren, and 59 great-grandchildren survive. On Aug. 17, 1908, his wife was called to her eternal home. He was married on Feb. 1, 1910, to Elizabeth Doner of Stayner, Ont., who also passed to her reward on May 31, 1918. He was converted when forty-four years of age and united with the Brethren in Christ Church and lived a faithful and consistent Christian life. He served in the office of deacon in the Waterloo, Ont., district for a number of years. Because of a lingering illness he was confined to his bed for the past three years, yet he always bore his suffering with patience and Christian fortitude. Funeral services were conducted at the Rosebank church on Jan. 14, 1929, in charge of E. J. Swalm assisted by Simon Cober and Manasseh Hallman. Text, Psa. 107: 30. Interment in cemetery near by.
