    Enos Shantz, "was born June 26th, 1843. On February 21st, 1883, he was married to Elizabeth Strickler who was born April 29th, 1854, and died March 7th, 1884, leaving no heirs. Mr. Shantz resides a little south-east of Berlin where he owns a beautiful small farm, being part of his great-grandmother's old homestead."

    Shantz. - Enos C. Shantz was born on June 26, 1843, near Berlin (now Kitchener), Ont.; died Feb. 16, 1921; aged 77 y. 7 m. 21 d. On Feb. 21, 1883, he was married to Elizabeth Strickler, who died March 7, 1884, leaving no heirs. In his early years he united with the Mennonite Church of which he was a member till death claimed him. He leaves to mourn his loss one brother (Eli), two sisters (Mrs. Jacob Shelley and Magdalena) and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services on the 19th at the First Mennonite Church, Kitchener, conducted by the brethren, U. K. Weber and Jonas Snider. Burial in the cemetery near by.

    Eli C. Shantz, "was born January 23rd, 1816. On May 5th, 1840, he was married to Anna, daughter of John and Esther (Wismer) Cressman. She was born November 18th, 1820. Soon after their marriage they moved on the farm now in possession of their son, John C., where they resided many years. In his old age Mr. Shantz divided his large estate into two farms and had new buildings erected on the east end, to which place he moved some fifteen years ago. He died September 19th, 1889 leaving a large family"

    SHANTZ. - On the 18th of September, near Berlin, Ontario, Bro. Eli Shantz, aged 72 years, 7 months and 26 days. He was buried on the 21st at Eby's church, Berlin. Many relatives and friends attended the burial. Bro. Shantz leaves his widow and seven children to mourn their loss, but they believe that he is now forever at rest. Funeral services by Samuel Bowman at the house and by Noah Stauffer, Daniel Wismer and Joseph Gingerich at the church.

    Christian Shantz, "the second son of Isaac Shantz, was born on the old 'Schantzen Homestead' near Pottstown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, February 13th, 1779. On October 19th, 1800, he was married to Magdalena, daughter of old 'Hannes' Cressman of Chester County, Pennsylvania. She was born January 30th, 1783, and died in Waterloo County August 13th, 1866. In May, 1806, he, in company with his wife and family of three children, Philip Bliehm and family, his brother, Abraham, and family, Abraham Cressman, and others, moved to Canada. Mr. Shantz arrived in safety at his farm, being composed of lots Nos. 52 and 55, German Company's Tract. The land is still in possession of three of his grandsons. Here they resided until their deaths. He died November 9th, 1856. They had a family of twelve children"

In 1807 he came to Canada with his parents and was raised near Freeport, Ontario. On October 3rd, 1818, he was married to Esther, daughter of Joseph and Barbara (Wismer) Wismer. She was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, January 12th, 1790, and died near New Dundee, Ontario, September 2nd, 1881. After their marriage they moved on the farm now possessed by Philip Zeller, Jr., about a mile south of Breslau. Here he died June 30th, 1840. To them were born five children"

    Esther Wismer, "was born January 12th, 1790, and died September 2nd, 1881. She was married to John Cressman. The fourth daughter of Joseph and Barbara Wismer, was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, January 12th, 1790. In 1818 she came to Canada and settled in Waterloo County. On October 3rd, 1818, she was married to John, son of John and Anna (Showalter)Cressman. He was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, May 15th, 1795, came to Canada with his parents in 1808 and settled in Waterloo County, a little below Freeport. After their marriage they moved on the farm now possessed by the heirs of the late Jacob Zeller, about one mile south of Breslau. Here they resided until his death which took place June 30th, 1840. After his decease she continued farming until her youngest son, Henry, had attained the age of manhood, then the farm was sold and the mother made her home with her daughter, Barbara, who was married to Samuel Cressman, where she died September 2nd, 1881. Their family consisted of five children"

    CRESSMAN - Sept. 2nd, in Waterloo Co., Ont., Sister Esther Cressman, widow, at the advanced age of 91 years, 7 months and 20 days. During the last nine months she suffered greatly from a fall. Buried the 5th at Cressman's.

    Isaac Shantz, "was born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, January 14th, 1748. On May 4th, 1774, he was married to Barbara Reiff who was born September 12th, 1753. He died on his farm situated on the Schuylkill River, within the corporation of Pottstown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania on October 11th, 1802. They had a family of nine children, eight of whom they raised. Their names are as follows: III Mary, III Abraham, III Christian, III Jacob, III Isaac, III David, III Veronica, III Samuel, and III Joseph. In 1808, she with her two sons, David and Isaac, and her daughter Veronica, moved to Canada and settled on the farm now possessed by Abraham H. Wambold, about one and one-half miles south of Berlin, and part of this farm is now possessed by Enos Shantz, one of her great-grandchildren. Here she resided until her death which took place September 25th, 1820. (Contributed by her son, Joseph) She was of an amiable disposition, rather small in statue but robust and of a quick turn. At 60 years of age she would mount her pony like a young man. She is buried in the Christian Eby Burial Ground, Berlin, Ontario. We shall now give the descendants of Isaac Shantz."
