    Mrs. Mary L. Shreve The death took place in Detroit on Thursday, April 11th, of Mrs. Mary L. Shreve, daughter of the late Rev. Samuel Krupp, whose death occurred in Kitchener in January. The funeral was held on Saturday, the services being conducted by Rev. G. F. Barthel and Rev. J. P. Hauch. The late Mrs. Shreve is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edmund Kratsch of Milwaukee, and Mrs. E. Byron O'Neill of Chicago, one son, Eric, of Detroit, two brothers, Samuel Krupp of Detroit and B. F. Krupp of Illinois. Also a sister, Mrs. Fred Meyers, of Lansing, Mich.

    Notes:

    REV. SAMUEL KRUPP, Pastor of Evangelical Association Church, Tavistock, Ont., was born August 15th, 1832, in Wilmot township, Waterloo County. He was educated at the public school, and obtained a second-class certificate, on which he taught six years. He was converted in 1853 and the church recognizing his gifts, called him to its ministry in 1857. In 1859 he was orained deacon by Bishop Long, and in 1861 was ordained elder. After ordination he travelled the following circuits : Hamburg, Waterloo, Buffalo, Hamilton. Hay, Colborne, Campden and York, After this, for three years, he was P. Elder of South District, but owing to ill-health, had to resign this and go back to the pastorate. He then served the church at Plattsville, Carrick, Colborne, Niagara, Mildmay, Hamilton again, and Tavistock, his present charge. He was treasurer of Conference for a number of years, also treasurer of Missions. The churches at Mildmay, Carrick and Niagara were built under his administration. He is a faithful pastor, and the work of the church is prosperous under him. He was married October 24, 1854, to Miss Magdalena Wegenast, of Berlin, Ont.

To know that Mr. Krupp, of Saginaw, is such a man one needs out to study the beautiful works of his studio comparing his artistic portraits with the faces thus from childhood devoted his energies to the study and portrayal of human beauty, and his reward has largely been in the satisfaction of his artistic deal.     Samuel Krupp

    Word was received here announcing the death of Rev. Samuel Krupp, well known in the Twin-City. He passed away at New Carlisle, Indiana, on Wednesday, Jan. 9th. The remains were brought to Kitchener and the funeral was held on Monday from the funeral parlors of Lippert and Hunter. Rev. Mr. Krupp was born in 1832, near the village of Waterloo. His parents died when he was a boy, and he was adopted into the family of Joseph Snyder, a farmer living near Waterloo. In this home of the Mennonite faith he was brought up with the Christian principles that were so outstanding in his later life. He taught school for a number of years, and was ordained to the ministry in the Evangelical church in 1859. He served in this capacity in the Canada Conference or forty-five years, holding the office of presiding elder for a term of three years. He was married to Magdalena Wegenast, who predeceased him in 1917. Of the four, sons and two daughters of the family the following survive: Benjamin, of Waukegan, Ill, Samuel of Detroit, Mrs. Shreve, of Detroit, and Mrs. Fred Meyers of Lansing.

    One of the outstanding characteristics of the deceased was his simplicity of life and his humble devotion to his Master. He spent the last few years at Haven Hubbard Memorial Home, New Carlisle, where he was known as "Grandpa."

    On his ninety-fourth birthday he preached the sermon at the chapel there, to the delight of the congregation. His intellect remained clear and alert till the end and in letters to local friends he expressed enjoyment of the Christmas festivities.
