ECCLES, Sylvester (Syl) James

Peacefully, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Monday, January 31, 2005, in his 91st year. Syl Eccles of Cambridge, beloved husband of Dorothy W. Eccles (nee Campbell). Dear father of Robert and his wife Lu Eccles of Guelph, Bruce and his wife Linda Eccles of Cambridge and Barbara and her husband Mark Hacking of Stratford. Loved and remembered grandfather of Brendan, Jennifer, Jeremy, Michael, Ryan and Rachel. Brother of John (Florence) Eccles of Guelph and Clare (Bette) Eccles of Waterloo and predeceased by a sister, Mary Carroll (2003). Syl taught both elementary and secondary school for 45 years, with the last 37 years at Galt Collegiate Institute and Vocational School. He was an active member of First United Church and a longtime member of the YMCA. A Memorial service will be conducted at First United Church, Wellington St., Cambridge on Friday, February 4, 2005, at 2: 30 p.m., with Rev. Robert and Hilary Merritt officiating. Reception to follow in the Fretwell Hall at the church. A private family service will be conducted in the chapel of Little's Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, on Friday morning. Interment, Mount View Cemetery.

At the Eventide Home, Galt, on Saturday, March 19, 1977, Adam James Eccles, in his 92nd year. Husband of the late Clara Vansickle; and dear father of Sylvester of Galt, John of Guelph, Clare of Waterloo, Mary (Mrs. Tom Carroll) of Hightstown, N.J.; dear brother of Euphemia (Mrs. H. Strong) of Mount Forest. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at Little's Funeral Home, 39 Grand Ave. N., Galt. Funeral and committal services at the funeral home, on Tuesday, March 22, at 3: 30 p.m. Interment in Mount View cemetery.
