Mr. Marshall had been in failing health for several months, but took to his bed only two weeks ago. He was born on the Marshall homestead, 13th concession of Blenheim, now owned by his son, William, being the son of Anthony Marshall and Isabel Hall, who were pioneer settlers from Scotland. After his marriage he farmed in South Dumfries for several years and then removed to the Kingsborough farm, Townline, where he spent ten years. The family then went back to the home farm, 13th of Blenheim, where the next twenty years were spent. They came to Ayr 21 years ago and took up residence on Grey street. Mr. and Mrs. Marshall celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1933. Mr. Marshall was a member of the former Stanley Street Church and after union, was a valued member of Knox United congregation, where he served on the Board of Trustees for many years. He was one of the oldest members of Dolman Lodge, I.O.O.F., and a member of the Ayr Cemetery Company Board. In politics, he was a staunch Liberal. While engaged in farming, he was for many years a director of Drumbo Fair Agricultural Society and also served on the Perry's Corners school board. Mr. Marshall was widely known throughout this section and was much respected as a good friend and neighbor. Besides his sorrowing wife, whose maiden name was Jennie Scott, he is survived by the following children: J. A. Marshall, Calgary Wm. S. Marshall, Blenheim; Mrs. Robert Gladstone, North Dumfries; Lovett Marshall, Yorkton, Sask., and Mrs. Harold Foote, Toronto.
