He was born in Canada and his next of kin is Mrs. Alice Viges, Preston, Ontario. He was killed in action September 30, 1918. Mr. James Viges of Preston is his father.

    My understanding is that James Viges was the son of Philip Viges and Margaret Burd. Philip's father, also Philip, was married to a lady from Ireland who was also named Margaret. Philip Sr. was a shoemaker from Newfoundland, born around 1817.
