Ropp, Moses, son of Joseph L. and Magdalena (Lichti) Ropp; born Jan. 18, 1885, in Mornington Twp., Ont.; died April 23, 1959, after surgery at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Ont.; aged 74 y. 3 m. 5 d. He was married on Feb. 23, 1911, to Christina Ruby, who died in 1937. Surviving are 2 sons and 3 daughters (Nelson, Poole, Ont.; Vernal Milverton; Malinda-Mrs. William Potter, Toronto; Mae-Mrs. John Albrecht, Millbank; and Emmeline, at home), 15 grandchildren, one brother (Aaron, Linwood), and one sister (Nancy-Mrs. Peter Ropp, Poole). He was a retired farmer, and a member of the Poole A. M. Church, where funeral services were held April 26, in charge of Herbert Schultz and Moses H. Roth; interment in Poole Cemetery.

MOSES ROPP

A resident of Milverton for the past eighteen years. Moses Ropp passed away in St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, on Thursday, April 23, in his 75^th year. He was a son of the late Joseph Ropp and Magdalena Lichty, and was born January 18, 1885, at Poole. On February 23, 1911, he married the former Christina Ruby, who predeceased him in 1937. Following their marriage they farmed north of Poole, on the farm now owned by his son Nelson, until 1941, when he moved to Milverton. While in Milverton he operated a trucking business until about two years ago. Mr. Ropp was a director of the Millbank Cheese and Butter Company until his death and was president of the company for 25 years, retiring from that post last February. He was a member of the Poole Amish Mennonite Church and was a trustee and also served as a secretary of the church for a number of years. Surviving are two sons, Nelson of Poole and Vernal of Milverton; three daughters, Mrs. William (Melinda) Potter, Toronto; Mrs. John (Mae) Albrecht, Millbank, and Miss Emmeline at home; one brother, Aaron, Linwood, and one sister, Mrs. Peter (Nancy) Ropp, of Poole. There are 15 grandchildren surviving. The remains rested at the family residence, where a private family service was held on Sunday afternoon at 1:45 p.m., followed by a funeral service at Poole Amish Mennonite Church at 2:30 p.m. Bishop Moses Roth of New Hamburg and Herbert Schultz of Poole, officiated. Interment followed in the Church cemetery. The pallbearers were: Joseph Ropp of Linwood, Ervin Ropp and Roy Poole of Poole, Clayton Sommers of Kitchener, Albert Ruby, Tavistock and William Bannerman, Milverton. Relatives and friends attended the funeral from Pigeon, Midland and Yale Michigan, Toronto, Woodstock, Kitchener, New Hamburg, Tavistock, Linwood, Atwood and surrounding district.

Ropp.- Christiana, daughter of the late Nicklaus and Barbara (Bender) Ruby, was born at East Zorra, Out., Oct. 7, 1883; died of pneumonia at her home near Poole, Ont., April 29, 1937; aged 53 y. 6 m. 22 d. She was married to Bro. Moses Ropp Feb. 23, 1911. She leaves her sorrowing husband, 2 sons and 3 daughters (all at home), 4 brothers, and many friends and relatives. She accepted Jesus as her Savior in her youth and united with the Amish Mennonite Church to which she remained faithful to the end. During her illness she expressed her desire to go home. Funeral services were held May 2 at the home by Bro. Peter Boshart and at the Poole A. M. Church by Bro. D. S. Jutzi and Jesse B. Martin. Interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Ruby. - Barbara Bender, beloved wife of Nichlaus Ruby, was born Feb. 26, 1859, in Waterloo Co., Ont.; died Feb. 13, 1925, at her late home in Perth Co., Ont.; aged 65 y. 11 m. 18 d. She was married to Nichlaus Ruby Jan. 25, 1881. To this union were born 4 sons and 1 daughter. She leaves her sorrowing husband, 4 sons, 1 daughter, 6 grandchildren, 1 brother, 2 sisters, an aged aunt, and a host of friends and relatives. In her young years she accepted Jesus as her personal Savior, joined the A. Mennonite Church, and was faithful to the end. Sister Ruby was of a quiet disposition. Her devoted Christian life talked louder than her words. In her sickness she was patient, enjoyed to repeat scripture verses and sacred songs, and was desirous to go over yonder to her heavenly home. The funeral was held on Feb. 17. Services conducted at the home by Peter Zehr, and at the Poole A. Mennonite Church by Jacob R. Bender and Peter Boshart. Text, Psa. 8: 5. Interment in the cemetery nearby.

Schultz. - Mary Schultz (born Kennel) died Dec. 20, 1906, at her home in Wellesley Twp., Waterloo Co., Ont.; aged 67 Y., 3 M., 23 D. She was twice married, first to John E. Lichty, with whom she lived in matrimony twelve years. To this union were born five children. After his death she was married to George Schultz, with whom she lived in matrimony nearly thirty-three years. To this union were born three children. She leaves, to mourn her death, a sorrowing husband and six children, two having gone before her. Sister Schultz was a consistent member of the Amish church since her youth and may well have been called a mother in Israel. She was buried Dec. 22, in the graveyard adjoining the Wellesley meeting-house; funeral services by Peter Spenler at the house, and Christian Zehr, Sr., and Nicholas Nafziger at the meeting-house.

BISH. JOSEPH RUBYJoseph Ruby was born on the 12th of July, 1813 in Alsace-Lorraine, France (now Germany), came to Canada in 1839, and was married to Magdalena Roth on the 17th of November 1840, and lived in matrimony 46 years, 3 months and 17 days; his wife died 9 years, 11 months and 13 days before him. He died on the 12th* of January, 1897, aged 83 years, 6 months and 4 days. Of his 9 children, 8 survive, one living in Colorado; there are also 58 grandchildren living and 3 dead, and 3 great-grandchildren. In 1852 he was ordained to the ministry, and in 1853 to the office of bishop. He served faithfully in his calling for about 43 years in the East Zorra Mennonite Congregation. His funeral, on the 19th, was very largely attended. Funeral services by Chr. Zehr from John 5: 25--30 and Chr. Litwiller from 2 Tim. 4: 6--9.
