    MARTIN, Delphine 1934 - 2012 Delphine Martin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Freeport Hospital. Loving wife of Lloyd for 58 years. Dear mother of Rick and his wife Nancy of Elmira, Roger of Toronto, Brad and his wife Monica of Toronto, Terry and his wife Sally of Belmont, Massachusetts, and Jackie and her husband Allan Giesen of Sherborn, Massachusetts. Special grandmother to Shelley and her husband Ameer Abdulla, Stephanie and her fiancé Brian Rempel, Lloyd and his girlfriend Amanda Pereira, Daniel, Emily and her boyfriend Tom Casey, Taylor, Eli, Evelyn, Penelope and Felix. Cherished sister of Don Horst and his wife Fay Etta of Lansing, Michigan and Elizabeth and her husband Glen Brubacher of Stouffville. Predeceased by her granddaughter Jennifer Martin and her parents Elias and Margaret Horst. Delphine will be remembered for her many contributions of time and talents. She was the first youth conference minister for Mennonite Church Eastern Canada, was the founding Executive Director of Shalom Counselling Services, served for many years on the board of Conrad Grebel University College and the board of Woolwich Counselling Centre. Delphine loved sunshine and water and was most happy when she was able to spend time at the family cottage at Chesley Lake or escape in the winter for a few weeks on the beach of Sanibel Island, Florida. The Martin family will receive friends and relatives at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, September 7, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Sunday, September 9, 2012, 3:00 p.m. at Waterloo North Mennonite Church, 100 Benjamin Rd., Waterloo. Interment will follow in the St. Jacobs Mennonite Cemetery followed by a reception at the church.     Horst.- Elias, son of Daniel B. and Annie (Weber) Horst, was born in Woolwich Twp., Ont., Mar. 3, 1905; died at K-W Hospital, Kitchener, Ont., July 5, 1977; aged 72 y. On July 13, 1929, he was married to Margaret Lorenz, who survives. Also surviving are one son (Donald), 2 daughters (Elizabeth-Mrs. Glen Brubacher and Delphine-Mrs. Lloyd Martin), 8 brothers (Sam, George, Moses, Dan, Simeon, Nathaniel, Osiah, and Aaron), and 3 sisters (Lavina Wrasse, Annie-Mrs. Addison Bauman, and Lydia Ann-Mrs. Howard Bauman). He was a member of the Elmira Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on July 7, in charge of Vernon Leis and Steve Dick; interment in the Elmira Mennonite Church Cemetery

    Horst, -- Daniel B., was born in Bothwell, Ont., Aug. 4, 1876; died Aug. 9, 1955, at his home in Elmira, Ont.; after a lengthy illness; aged 79 y. 5 d. On June 25, 1898, he was married to Annie Weber, who preceded him in death Feb. 23, 1953. Surviving are 9 sons and 3 daughters (Samuel, St. Jacobs; Moses, Goshen, Ind.; George, Conestoga; Elias, Elmira; Lovina-Mrs. Otto Wrasse, Drayton; Daniel, Wallenstein; Annie-Mrs. Addison Bauman, St. Jacobs; Simeon, missionary to B.     ELMIRA - Mrs. Daniel B. Horst, 74, of RR 1, Elmira, died suddenly following a brain haemorrhage at her home today. Born near Lexington, she was the former Annie Weber, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Moses Weber. Surviving are her husband; nine sons, Aaron at home, Elias and Nathaniel of RR 1, Elmira, Samuel of St. Jacobs, George of Conestogo, Daniel Jr. of Wallenstein, Moses of Goshen, Ind., Osiah of Mannheim and Simeon, a missionary to Africa; three daughters, Mrs. Otto Lavina) Wraase of RR 2, Drayton, Mrs. Addison (Annie) Bauman of St. Jacobs and Mrs. Howard (Lydiann) Bauman of RR 1, Elmira; three brothers, 10 sisters and 45 grandchildren. A private service will be held at her home Wednesday at 1: 30 p.m. following by a public memorial service at the Elmira Mennonite Church with Bishop Oliver D. Snider officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. The body is at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Elmira, until Wednesday at 9 a.m. when it will be taken to her home.

    Samuel Horst, "(His father was a distant relative to old Christian and David Horst) son of David and Leah (Mosser) Horst, was born in Canarvon Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania (Did not receive date of moving to Canada), October 30th, 1841. He was first married to Mary Ann, daughter of Henry Martin of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She was born September 23rd, 1842, and died January 3rd, 1872. On October 27th, 1872, he was again married to Magdalena, daughter of John S. and Elizabeth (Burkhart) Brubacher. She was the widow of the late Michael Brubacher (See No. 1489 for full information). She was born April 12th, 1850. They reside about three miles west of St. Jacobs. Mr. Horst has a family of seven children, the eldest four of whom were born in Aldborough Township, Elgin County, near Clachan P.O., while the younger three were born in Woolwich Township, Waterloo County, near St. Jacobs."

    Magdalena B. Brubacher, "youngest daughter of John S. and Elizabeth (Burkhart) Brubacher, was born April 12th, 1850. She was first married to Michael M., son of John W. and Catharine (Martin) Brubacher. They resided on the farm now possessed by Rev. Daniel M. Brubacher until his death which took place June 18th, 1870. Their family consisted of one daughter named Elizabeth, who was born September 30th, 1869, and is married to Cyrus Eby of Conestogo. After her husband's death she was married to Samuel, son of David and Leah (Mosser) Horst. He was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, October 30th, 1841. The second marriage took place October 27th, 1872. They reside about a mile west of the Conestogo Mennonite Meeting House. Their family consists of seven children, viz: (The first four were born in Elgin Co., Ont., and the younger ones in Waterloo Co."

He resides on north half of lot No. 65 German Company's Tract, being part of the old "Henry (Henner) Weber Farm." This union was blessed with four children, namely: VII Barbara (dead), VII Daniel (Dead), VII Simeon, and VII Mary Ann. After the decease of his first wife he was married to Lydia Gingerich. The second union was blessed with a large family.
