Isaac Latschaw "We have no means of ascertaining the true ancestry of this family. Some maintain that the old pioneer settler was a native of France and was a descendant of some Hugenot family, while others think he was a native of Holland. We shall begin this family with I Isaac Latschaw who was born January 9th, 1774, in Colebrook, Dale Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. His boyhood days were quietly spent on the farm of his father. After arriving at maturity he was married to Susannah Kindig who was born July 19th, 1782. During the early part of the present century (1822) they moved to Canada and settled in Waterloo County where they resided at different places. They owned a beautiful farm at Mannheim, Ontario, where they resided many years. The evening of their life was spent with their son-in-law, Mr. Hostetler, where they died. His death took place February 14th, 1857, and she died September 17th, 1859. To them were born ten children"
