    TOMAN, Wanda Susie (Weber)

    Passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Nithview Community, New Hamburg. Wanda was born 98 years ago in Irricana, Alberta, a daughter of the late Burton and Irene (Spitzmesser) Weber.

    Wanda is predeceased by her first husband Willard Toman in 2002 and her second husband Kurt Kaethler in 2005

    Wanda was the oldest member of Breslau Mennonite Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and reading. Wanda was always intrigued with a good discussion on current events and theology. In her later years at Nithview, Wanda enjoyed a good game of Crokinole and Scrabble. Wanda and Willard farmed first near Breslau where the children were born, then in the Hanover area for 30 years.

    After retiring from farming, they moved to Chesley, then to Fairview Mennonite home in Cambridge. Wanda lived her last 13 years in Nithview Community in New Hamburg.

    Relatives and friends are invited to Breslau Mennonite Church, 226 Woolwich Street South, Breslau, on Monday, June 24, 2019 for memorial visitation from 1 - 3 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at the church at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Eleanor Epp-Stobe officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery

    Toman, Manassa, son of Samuel and Elizabeth (Hunsberger) Toman, was born Sept. 21, 1878, at New Dundee, Ont.; died of a stroke at Kitchener, Ont., Oct. 21, 1960; aged 82 y. 1 m. On March 26, 1902, he was married to Elsie Biehn, who died Sept. 29, 1947. Two daughters, 6 brothers, and 6 sisters also preceded him in death. Surviving are 4 children (Mary Elizabeth --Mrs. Allen Cressman, Loretta Elsie-Mrs. Wesley Shantz, and Clarence Earl, all of Guernsey, Sask.; and Willard Hedly, Kitchener, Ont.), 19 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, one brother (Abraham, New Dundee, Ont.), and one sister (Mrs. Samanda Didson, Collingwood, Ont.). He was a member of the Breslau Church. In 1960 he homesteaded near Guernsey, Sask., and was a member of the Sharon Church. Services at the Breslau Church were in charge of J. B. Martin, and at Sharon, Guernsey, Sask., on Oct. 25, in charge of Stanley D. Shantz.

    Toman.-Elsie Biehn was born at Freeport, Ont., Dec. 18, 1879: died at the Humboldt Hospital on Sept. 29, 1947; aged 67 y. 9 m. 11 d. On March 26, 1902 she was married to Manassa Toman. In 1905 they moved to Guernsey, Sask. Surviving are 2 sons (Clarence, of Guernsey; and Willard, Waterloo, Ont.), 2 daughters (Mary-Mrs. Allen Cressman, and Loretta-Mrs. Wesley Shantz, both of Guernsey), and 12 grandchildren. Two daughters (Vera and Gertrude) predeceased her. Funeral services were held at the home and at the Sharon Mennonite Church, in charge of Dan Schlabach and Stanley Shantz. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.

    Toman. - Samuel Toman was born in the County of Waterloo, Ont., on March 28, 1833; died in the County of Oxford, Ont., on Oct. 29, 1922; aged 89 y. 7 m. 1 d. He was a faithful member of the Mennonite Church for sixty years or more, and it is confidently hoped by his many friends that he fell asleep in Jesus. He was the father of 16 children of whom 12 survive him. There are also 44 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 sister to mourn his loss. Funeral services largely attended at the Blenheim Mennonite Church on Nov. 1, 1922, conducted by the brethren M. H. Shantz and M. Hallman from Heb. 4: 9. Interred in the cemetery adjoining.

    Biehn was born Jan. 5, 1850, in Waterloo Co., Ont.; died of heart failure at his home near Guernsey, Sask., Dec. 20, 1927; aged 77 y. 11 m. 22 d. He was confined to his bed only a few days, although he had been suffering from congestion of the lungs for some time. He was a consistent member of the Mennonite Church. In 1879 he was married to Mary Cressman and resided on a farm near Freeport, Ont. In 1906 they moved to Guernsey, Sask., which has since been their home. He is survived by his widow, 5 sons, 2 daughters, and 1 foster granddaughter: namely, Mrs. Manassah Toman, Ervin, Milton, Mrs. Noah Weber, Alvin, Anthony, Delton, and Mrs. Addison Gingerich; also 23 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Dec. 20 at the Sharon Mennonite Church conducted by Bros M.H. Schmitt and I.S. Rosenberger. Text, I Cor. 15: 55-57. Burial in adjoining cemetery.

    Levi Weber," the sixth son of Abraham C. Weber, was born March 14th, 1850. He is married to Susannah, daughter of Joseph and Leah (Unger) Baumann. They reside on his brother Daniel's farm, known as the old "Histand Place."     Weber.-Levi Weber was born Mar. 14, 1850, on a farm where part of the city of Kitchener, Ont., now stands; died Oct. 24, 1923, at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital after about two days' illness with pneumonia; aged 73 y. 7 m. 10 d. He was married to Susannah Bowman who died a little over three years ago. Eleven children were born to this union of whom seven survive (Mrs. Moses Schmitt, Jeremiah, Abram, Burton, Mrs. Harvey Bricker, Mrs. Joseph Cressman, Mrs. S. S. Shantz). There are also a number of grandchildren, besides two brothers and four sisters to mourn his departure. He united with the Mennonite Church in his young years, lived a consistent life to the end, and also had the satisfaction of seeing all his children accept their Saviour. Funeral services Oct. 28 from the home of his son-in-law, Bro. Joseph Cressman, to the First Mennonite Church for services which were conducted by the brethren, U. K. Weber and Abram Gingrich.

    Weber. - Sister Susannah Bowman, beloved wife of Bro. Levi M. Weber, was born in Waterloo County, Ont., on Sept. 8, 1852 and died at the home of her son-in-law, Bro. Joseph Cressman, Kitchener, Ont., on Sept. 11, 1920. The cause of her death was heart trouble and dropsy. Her age was 68 y. 3 d. There were eleven children in the family, seven of whom survivie, viz., Leah, wife of Pre. Moses Schmitt; and Jeremiah of Saskatchewan, Melissa, wife of Harvey Bricker; Abram and Burton of Alberta; Melinda, wife of Joseph Cressman, Kitchener, and Susannah, wife of S. S. Shantz, missionaries at Jebba, West Africa. Funeral on Sept. 15. Service at the house by Bro. U. K. Weber and at the First Mennonite Church by the Brethren Jonas Snider and Allan Good.
