    Rudolph Detweiler," a first cousin to the father of IV Jacob Detweiler, was born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, February 13th, 1771. He was married to Anna W. Wanner who was born November 9th, 1776, and died January 2nd, 1814. In 1810 they moved to Canada and settled in Waterloo County on a farm near the Wanner Meeting House, about two miles north-west of Hespeler. Here they both died. His death took place March 18th, 1837. To them were born eight children"

    Last Friday afternoon, Rudolf Dettweiler gave himself a terrible cut in the throat with a pocket-knife, presumably in a fit of madness, that he died the following Sunday, despite all measures to save him, in the home of Samuel Eby (the older). He was in his 67th year.

In 1774 he was married to Anna Mosser who was born February 8th, 1748. In spring, 1810, they moved to Canada and settled in Waterloo County, near Hespeler, on the farm now in possession of John W. Martin. Here they resided until their death. He died February 12th, 1835, and she died May 8th, 1823. Their family consisted of eight children, all born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania"
