    "(Preston) - Illness of two days culminated in the death here yesterday afternoon of Oliver D.Cassel, 76, a resident here over a period of 50 years. Mr. Cassel was born in New Dundee and lived there and at Chicopee before coming to Preston. The deceased was employed at the Pattinson Woollen Mill for 45years but had lived retired for the past two years. He was a member ofthe Brethren in Christ (Tunker) church.

    Surviving are four sons, James Lloyd Cassel of Hamilton, Harvey at home, Percy in Gormlay, Ont., and Kenneth of Galt, five daughters, Mrs. Harvey Snider of Kitchener, Mrs. David Cober of Kossuth, Miss Laura Cassel ofStevensville, Miss Ida and Miss Annie Cassel at home, and one sister, Mrs. Henry Wagner of Kitchener. His wife predeceased him about 12 years ago while one son, Wilfred, also predeceased him. 7 grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive...Hagey's Mennonite Church Cemetery...."

    Notes:

    Daniel Wismer lived there until he died in 1930 at age 90. The family never knew about him growing up, because the family was embarrassed by him; he was shunned by the Mennonite community because he was a violent man who beat his wife.

    It is thought she is the daughter of John Biehn and Nancy Bechtel although The Biographical History of Waterloo Township indicates she was the daughter of John's father and his wife Barbara Fried. More research is needed to confirm.

    Jacob R. Detweiler," was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, December 15th, 1807. He was married to Anna, daughter of Isaac and Anna (High) Wismer. She was born in Lincoln County, Ontario, in 1808. They resided at Roseville, Ontario, on the farm now possessed by their son Enoch. Here they resided until their deaths. He died July 2nd, 1885, and her death took place November 5th, 1871. To them was born a family of eleven children, of whom the eldest seven, namely VI Isaac, VI Daniel, VI Benjamin, VI John, VI Jacob, VI Barbara, and VI Susannah died in infancy. The following arrived at maturity and are still living

    Death of an Old Resident of Dumfries

    There passed away, on Thursday of last week, after a short illness, Mr. Jacob R. Detweiler, aged 78 years. The deceased came to this country with his parents from Pennsylvania, when 16 years of age. He resided for a short time at Preston, when the family removed to the homestead near Roseville, at present occupied by Mr. Aaron Detweiler, his nephew. He afterwards purchased 50 acres alongside of his father's farm, where he continued to reside till the time of his death. The deceased was a shoemaker by trade, and for some years carried on that business as well as farming. He was highly respected by the residents of the township, and the funeral on Saturday last was largely attended.

    An Old Resident of Puslinch

    The news came to this city last night of the death of Jacob Cober. At his home on the 4th concession of Puslinch, on Sunday, March 30, 1890, aged 75 years, one of the oldest residents of west Puslinch. He was a native of the county of York and came to Puslinch over fifty years ago. He was a man of great perseverance in business, having amassed a considerable portion of this world's goods. He was a man of retiring disposition, was generally respected and held in the highest esteem by his neighbours and friends. He leaves a large family, all grown up. The funeral on the afternoon of Wed., April 2nd was largely attended by his old friends and neighbours.
