(Haysville) George Allan Miller, 78, passed away at his home, one and a half miles east of Haysville on the Huron Road, last night. He had been ailing for many years but had only been confined to bed since Sept. Born at New Dundee, Nov. 20 (could be 30?), 1853, he was s/o the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Miller, He came to Haysville 55 years ago. His wife died 12 years ago. Surviving are two sons, Harry and William, at home; and four daughters, Mrs. E. Gehman (Vera) Galt, Mrs. William Love (Edith), New Hamburg, Mrs.Theodore Setter (Ellen), Kitchener, and Iva at home. 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren also survive. Six children predeceased him......

Death of Mr. Jacob Saltzberry - One of the old pioneers has passed away in the person of Mr. Jacob Saltzberry. He had made his home for the last 3 years with his daughter, Esther (Mrs. Miller), Haysville. For the last ten weeks he had been ailing with dropsy and on Sunday, Aug. 20th, about 10 o'clock a.m. passed quietly away in his 87th year. He leaves to mourn his loss, 3 daughters, Lovina, Mrs. J. T. Underwood; Esther, Mrs. Geo. A. Miller, Haysville and Mary, Mrs. H. P. Ellis, Berlin. One son and two daughters died several years ago, Moses, Veronica, Mrs. A. Hilborn and Katherine, Mrs. Geo. Miller. His wife predeceased him about 9 years. the funeral will be held from Mrs. Miller's residence in Haysville to Blenheim cemetery. Service at the house at 1.30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22nd.

John Philip Saltzberger, "a native of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, came to Canada in 1802. He was born June 21st, 1780, and died December 29th, 1860. On September 22nd, 1805, he was married to Veronica Gingerich, sister to old David Gingerich and daughter of old Abraham Gingerich. She was born in 1781 and died in 1810. After the decease of his first wife, he was again married to Mary, daughter of John and Nancy (Bechtel) Biehn. She was the first white child born in the township of Waterloo and quite likely the first in the county. She was born April 24th, 1801, and died September 29th, 1889. They were married in September, 1819."

In September, 1819, she was married to John Philip Saltzberger who was born June 21st, 1780, and died December 29th, 1860. She died September 29th, 1888. To them were born six children, namely: V Abraham, V Elizabeth, V Jacob, V Samuel, V Christian, and V Aaron."

SALSBERGER. - On the 5th of October, in Strasburg, Waterloo Co., Ontario, of the infirmities of old age, Sister Salsberger, widow of Philip Salsberger, aged 88 years. Her father, John Biehn, was the original settler on what is now known as the Doon property, where deseased* was born in 1801. She was a widow for twenty-seven years, and had been in poor health a long time. Her remains were consigned to the grave on the 8th at Weaver" church. Funeral services by Daniel Wismer and Noah Stauffer.

Abraham Honsberger, "son of Abraham and Esther (Tyson)(Esther was aunt to the father of Abram Tyson of Berlin) Honsberger, was one of the early settlers of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. He was born May 3rd, 1782, and was married to Catharine, daughter of Abraham and Esther (Shantz) Bergey (Esther was sister to old Isaac Shantz who was the father of the old Shantzes of this county and mother to old John Bingeman and grandmother to Mr. Jonas Bingeman of Berlin). She was born in the same county, December 3rd, 1786. In 1824 they moved to Canada and settled in Waterloo County, Ontario. Several years after their arrival in this county they settled in Wilmot Township, near New Dundee where they died. His death took place December 6th, 1857, and she died November 2nd, 1874. To them were born eleven children"
