    Mrs. Henry Ziegler By Record Correspondent ELMIRA

    Mrs. Henry L. Ziegler, 31 Riverside Drive, died Saturday at the Elmira Private Hospital. She was 86. The former Alma C. Brubacher, she was born in Woolwich Township, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Martin E. Brubacher. Mrs. Ziegler was a member of St. James' Lutheran Church in Elmira. Surviving are one daughter. Erma of Woodstock: three brothers, Clare, Cranson and William, all of Elmira, two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Rahn of St. Jacobs and Mrs. Robert (Florence) Crocker of Milverton. She was predeceased by her husband in 1933 and one daughter, Mrs. Karl (Beatrice) Hemmerle in 1968. The body is at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor in Elmira where the service will be held on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Rev. H. W. Baetz will officiate. Burial will be in St. Jame's Lutheran Church cemetery, Elmira.

    The petition of Sarah Ziegler, Widow, of the late Jacob Ziegler of the Township of Waterloo, the County of Halton in the District of Gore, Yeoman, deceased. Humbly Swearth That you petitioner being now left a widow with an only child named Aaron Ziegler an infant under the age of four years and your petitioner for want of the English Language is not capable of managing her affairs and those of her said infant son. Your Petitioner therefore humbly request that your honour will be pleased to appoint George Clemens of Waterloo aforesaid, Gentleman, to be Guardian for my said infant son to manage his affairs and to do all other acts and things according to the statute in such case made and providing - and your petitioner as is duty bound will ever pray.

    FORMER ELMIRA WOMAN PASSES

    The death took place in Waterloo last Friday of Mrs. Aaron Ziegler, former resident of Elmira where many of her old friends have learned with deep regret of her passing. The late Mrs. Ziegler was age 83 years 3 months and for the past fourteen years has resided in Waterloo. She was born in the northern part of the county and has been a resident of the vicinity all her life. Her husband predeceased her 37 years ago. To mourn her death there are left 6 sons, John, Moses, Menno, Ezra, Henry and George. The later was formerly the manager of the Bank of Nova Scotia in Elmira and Ezra is at present connected with the Elmira Furniture Factory. Mr. Henry Ziegler of Floradale is well known in this district. Mrs. Chris. Hechendorn, of Elmira is a sister. The funeral took place from her late residence Victoria Street, Waterloo, on Monday afternoon at 1: 30 o-clock to the Erb Street Mennonite Church and cemetery.

    Respected Farmer Dead

    The sad death took place Thursday last of Martin E. Brubacher, a well known and highly esteemed farmer of Woolwich Township, following a short illness. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon to the St. James Lutheran church for service thence to St. James' cemetery for interment. The late Mr. Brubacher was born in Woolwich township, May 26, 1857. A sorrowing wife and six children survive, namely Mrs. Henry Ziegler, of Floradale, Claire of Elmira, Mabel, Cranson, William and Florence at home; also his aged mother, Mrs. Magdalena Brubacher, of St. Jacobs, two sisters Mrs. Reuben Eby and Mrs. Christ. Scheifele of St. Jacobs, and one brother, W. H. Brubacher of Rodney.

    Dielman Ziegler of Dundas in the district of Gore, tavern keeper, solemnly affirmth and said that Jacob Ziegler late of Waterloo in the district of Gore, Yeoman, died on or about the tenth day of January without having made no past or will or testament as this affirmant believes and leaving him surviving this affirmant his father, Sarah Ziegler his widow and Aaron Ziegler his own son an infant of the age of two years or thereabouts and this affirmant further affirms that and saith that the said Sarah Ziegler has declined taking out letters of administration to the effects of the said Jacob Ziegler and her requested this deponent to do the same. Affirmed before me at Hamilton this 25th day January 1832

    John Lichty, (The writer remembers old Mr. John Lichty speaking of his grandfather and if not mistaken called him "John") "was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, July 21st, 1793. On April 14th, 1818, he was married to Barbara, daughter of George and Anna (Good) Hoffman. She was born June 30th, 1796, and died April 7th, 1875. In 1822 they moved to Canada and settled at Waterloo, Ontario, where he engaged himself to old Abraham Erb. From here he moved to Woolwich Township, on lot No. 43, German Company's Tract, on the farm now possessed by his son, George, and the heirs of his son David. Here they resided until 1837 when he moved on the old "Burkhard Farm" near the town of Waterloo, which he had shortly before purchased. Here they resided until their deaths. He died April 29th, 1878. To them were born ten children"

    Brubacher.-Magdalena Eby Brubacher was born July 22, 1831, near Kitchener, Ont. Oct. 15, 1926, she peacefully passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Reuben Eby, St. Jacobs, Ont.; aged 95 y. 2 m. 23 d. She had been able to be up and around till nearly 17 months ago when she took her bed and since she was never able to be up. Sept. 28, 1856, she was married to Jacob M. Brubacher who preceded her in death Dec. 10, 1889. This union was blessed with 3 sons and 2 daughters, of whom 1 son preceded her in infancy and Martin 19 months ago. Those left to mourn her departure are: Mrs. Christian Schiefle, and Mrs. Reuben Eby, St. Jacobs, Ont.; William H., of Rodney, Ont.; also one step-sister, Mrs. Phillip Cress, Phillips, Wis.; 23 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Oct. 17, at the Old Order Mennonite Church, Conestoga, and at the Riverside cemetery for burial. Funeral services were conducted by Urias Martin ant the house and by Israel Weber and Ezra Martin at the Church. Texts, I Pet. 3: 4; I Thess. 4: 13.
