SCHWARTZENTRUBER, Magdalena (Mattie) Passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013, at her residence, Nithview Community, New Hamburg. She was born 86 years ago, April 21, 1927 in Ellice Township and was the daughter of the late Christian and Mary (Steckley) Eicher. Mattie was predeceased by her first husband Harold Roth in 1980 and her second husband Serenus Schwartzentruber in 1985. Loving mother of Brian and Malka Roth of Israel. Dear step-mother of Delores and Earl Mohr of R.R.#2, Tavistock; Arlene and Ken Seyler of Zurich; Sharon and Grant Kaufman of Stratford; Arnold Schwartzentruber of Tavistock; Keith and Karen Schwartzentruber of R.R.#1, Shakespeare; Carol and David Steckle of R.R.#2, Zurich; Veronica and Dean Bell of Oro Station; and Virginia and Ken Steckle of R.R.#1, Bayfield. Missed by her 23 step-grandchildren and many step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren. Remembered by her step-son-in-law Harold Gingerich of R.R.#2, Zurich; sister-in-law Helene Eicher of Milverton; and friend Janice Wagler of New Hamburg. Mattie was predeceased by step- daughter Esther Gingerich, sisters Adeline and Irvin Greve, Salome and Ivan Henning, brothers William Eicher and David and Helen Eicher. Mattie was a member of Hillcrest Mennonite Church, New Hamburg where she was a former member of the WMSC and former member of Haysville Sunshine Club. She was an avid quilter. Family and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg tonight (Tuesday) from 6-9 p.m. A public interment will take place on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 10:15 a.m. at the 16th Line East Zorra Mennonite Cemetery. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Mennonite Church, New Hamburg with Pastor Kevin Unrau Peters and Pastor Jan Steckly officiating. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee or Hillcrest Mennonite Church.
