HALL (ELLIS), Alma Irene "Jean" (nee Wood) Peacefully, at the Brierwood Gardens, Brantford on Saturday, September 3, 2011 of Ayr, in her 84th year. Beloved wife of the late Jim Ellis (1965); loved mother of Darlene Savage (Orvie); cherished grandmother of Jamie (Heather) and Angie Finbow (Tim); cherished great grandmother of Andrew and Zachary Savage and Parker and Mackenzie Finbow. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Bill, Clayton, Murray, Stan, George Wood and sisters Anna Gilbert and Florence Lewis. Jean was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 29 Paris Ladies Auxiliary and participated in the Terry Fox Run for many years. She was a former employee of Penman's, Schneider's and the Queen's Tavern, Ayr. Friends will be received at the AYR CHAPEL, Wm. KIPP FUNERAL HOME , 183 Northumberland Street, Ayr on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 2: 00 p.m. Interment in Ayr Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Heart & Stroke Foundations and the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Mrs. Albert Wood Passes

A well-known resident of Ayr for many years, Mrs. Albert Wood died on Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Ellis, Swan St. She was in her 79th year. The former Elizabeth Baer, she was born at Bright but lived most of her life in Ayr. Surviving, besides her husband, are four sons, William of Drumbo, Stanley of Paris, Clayton of Galt and George of Dunnville; three daughters, Mrs. Harley (Anna) Gilbert of Simcoe, Mrs. James (Jean) Ellis and Mrs. Florence Lewis of Ayr; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Cudmore of Brantford and Mrs. Charles Piggott of Princeton. Twenty-two grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren also survive. She was predeceased by a son, Murray, who was killed in action in World War II.

The Funeral

Funeral service was held on Tuesday from the W. O. Ball Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. D. E. Willis. Pallbearers were grandsons Cecil Lewis, Larry Lewis, Dick Wood Michael Wood, Lloyd Gilbert and Ronald Gilbert.

AYR - Formerly a CPR section foreman, Samuel Wood, 82, of Ayr died Sunday at Paris, Ont. He was born Aug. 15, 1870 at Arden, Ont. He came to Ayr 49 years ago. Mr. Wood was predeceased by his wife 11 years ago. He was a member of Knox United Church. Surviving are two sons, Charles of Northbrook, Ont., and Albert of Ayr; four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Annie) Spearns of New York State, Mrs. Ellen Miller of Preston, Mrs. Fred (Adeline) Briggs and Mrs. Robert (Winnifred) English of Paris, Ont.
