    Monica Jane Shelton (nee Scott) of Winnipeg, passed away Tuesday, March 16th, 1993 in Grenada, Mississippi, as a result of an auto accident. Born in Windsor 40 years ago, she was a daughter of Clifford Scott and Dorothy Edgar, her mother being a native of Ayr. She spent her childhood in Chatham, Ingersoll and Windsor. Monica was a graduate of Chatham Collegiate Institute and St. Clair College. She had been employed in Chatham at St. Clair Grain and Feed, the Brockville Co-Op in Brockville, Ont. and worked for 15 years at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Calgary, Alta. and Winnipeg, Man. Monica was a long standing associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Honourable Ray Lawson Br. 28 in Chatham, Ont. Besides her parents she is survived by her husband, James Gordon Shelton of Winnipeg; one brother, John David and his wife Rita of St. Thomas, Ont. and one sister Margaret Cray and her husband David Ellis of Raleigh Township; daughter-in-law of Gord and Del. Shelton of Chatham, Ont.; several nieces and nephews as well as two great nieces and a great nephew. Memorial services were held in Winnipeg and Chatham. Interment Ayr Cemetery.

    A resident of Chatham, and formerly of Windsor, Clifford Scott passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with his family at his side on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the age of 91.

    Born in Windsor, Clifford Scott son of the late Albert Victor and Gladys Rose (Brookes) Scott. Beloved husband of 67 years to Dorothy Gray Scott (nee Edgar). Loving father of David Scott and his wife Candace of London, Margaret Ellis and her husband David of Raleigh Township and the late Monica Jane Shelton (1993). Father-in-law to James Shelton and Marta Scott. Proud Opa of Derek Ellis (Erin), Scott Ellis, Const. Heather Ellis (Simone), Sgt. Jeffrey Scott (Chelsea) and Magdalen Sinson (John Madden). Great-Opa to Isabella, Jennaca, Emma, Sarah; Sophie, Claire; Greyson, Harper; and Gloria. Survived by his sister Barbara Moore. Brother-in-law to Dr. Hugh Edgar (late Margaret, November 25, 2016) and Robert McLeod. Predeceased by his two brothers Cecil Scott (1993) and Bertrum Scott (1990) and two sisters Ruth Girard (1997) and Violet Campbell (2005).

    Mr. Scott was a Veteran of WWII, serving with the Lincoln and Welland Regiment. He was wounded in Belgium. He later served with the U.S. forces in Japan during the occupation. He was a Command Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Past President of Br. 28. Life Member of Windsor Lodge #403, A.F. and A.M. and member of Mocha Temple of London, Chatham Lodge of Perfection, Kent Chapter of Rose Croix, AHCOM Shrine Club of Chatham and life member of the Lincoln and Welland Regiment Association. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Chatham. Clifford was a Stationary Engineer and the Business Manager of the Canadian Union of Operating Engineers until his retirement in 1979, later becoming the steward at the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 28 for thirteen years. Interment to follow at Ayr Cemetery, Ayr, Ontario.

    William G. Edgar Passes

    A lifelong resident of Ayr and district, William G. Edgar, Colquhoun Street, Ayr passed away early Monday in St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener. He was in his 83rd year. Mr. Edgar Was born in North Dumfries Township on the century farm now owned by his son Alex Edgar. He was a son of the late Alex Edgar and Mary Grey. Married in 1918 to the former Alice Mae Vietch, the couple farmed at RR 1, Ayr until retiring to Ayr in early 1953. in June, 1968, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. Edgar was a member of Knox's Presbyterian Church, Galt, and had served as an elder. He was a member of the Ayr Masonic Lodge No. 172; had served on the board of directors of Ayr Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Company; also on the Ayr Cemetery Board. Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Alex, of RR 1, Ayr, Hugh, London and Robert, Montreal; three daughters, Dorothy (Mrs. Clifford Scott) Chatham, Jean (Mrs. William Stager) Mississauga and Marjorie (Mrs. Robert McLeod) RR 4, Galt; one brother, T. McKenzie Edgar of Dearborn, Michigan and one sister, Miss Elizabeth Edgar, Toronto; 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral service was conducted today (Wed.) at Little's Funeral Home, Galt, at 3: 00 p.m. Rev. R. A. Jackson officiated. Inter-ment in Ayr Cemetery. Pallbearers were Carl Buck, Gordon Marshall, Cameron Edgar, Robert McLeod. Clifford Scott and William Stager. Flower bearers were grandsons.

    Mrs. William Edgar Mrs. Mice Mae Edgar of Eventide Home, Galt, passed away on Sunday, February 3rd, 1985. She was in her 92nd year. The former A. Mae Veitch, she was the wife of the late William G. Edgar (1973). Mrs. Edgar was a member of Knox's Galt Presbyterian Church, the Evening Auxiliary, WMS Knox's Church and a lifelong member of the Women's Institute. Loving mother of Alex and Robert, both of Ayr, Dorothy (Mrs. Clifford Scott) of Chatham, Jean (Mrs. William Stager) of Mississauga, Marjorie (Mrs. Robert McLeod) of RR 4, Cambridge, and Dr. Hugh W. of London, Ont.; loved by 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Survived by a brother, Clare Veitch of Brussels and a sister, Mrs. Jennie Ritchie of Ayr. Predeceased by brother, Melville.     Death of Alexander Edgar

    The death occurred at his home in Galt on Tuesday morning of Alexander Edgar, in his 81st year. He was a son of the late Thomas Edgar and Elizabeth Hall, who came over from Ayrshire and Selkirkshire, Scotland. Deceased was born and lived nearly 70 years on the homestead near Ayr. A successful farmer and stockman, he was elected a director of the Provincial Plowmen's Association at its inauguration, and was at the time of his demise an honorary director of the local association. He was for 25 years connected with the township board of health, and was also the oldest member of Dolman Lodge, I.O.O.F., Ayr, being made the recipient of the 50-year Jewel some years ago. Mr. Edgar was deeply concerned in matters of his church. being in the Session of Knox Presbyterian Church. Ayr, some 20 years and later in Knox's Church, Galt, and his heart was in all movements tending to the welfare of the community in which he lived.

    He was married in 1885 to the late Mary Gray, who as a child came over from Ayrshire, Scotland, with her parents. Mrs. Edgar predeceased her husband 15 years ago. Surviving are two sons and one daughter, T. McKenzie, at Detroit; William G. on the homestead, and Elizabeth H., at home. Where are also 11 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the T. Little & Son Funeral Parlors, adjacent to his late residence., at 2.30 p.m. today (Thursday), with interment in the family plot at the Ayr Cemetery.

    ROBERT J. VEITCH

    Former Warden of Waterloo County Passes in His 79th Year

    The death occurred in Galt, Hospital on Monday of Robert J. Veitch, in his 79th year, after an illness of some two months. Mr. Veitch farmed for many years two miles northeast of Roseville, on the Waterloo Dumfries townline and was known far and wide for his many qualities. He was a member of the Waterloo township council for a number of years, acting in the capacity of both councillor and reeve. He also served a term as warden of Waterloo County Council. Mr.. Veitch was born near Roseville on a farm now owned by Floyd Becker and he was the last member of a pioneer family of 13 children. He was prominent in agricultural circles in the district, being a member of the South Waterloo Agricultural Society and also the North Dumfries Plowmen's Association. He was a Presbyterian in religion and for many years had. been a member of the session of Knox's Presbyterian Church, Galt.. After leaving the farm Mr. Veitch lived in Galt for a few years and some five or six years ago went to reside at the home of his brother-in-law, John Milroy, Cedar Creek.
