    Churchill Squires

    Churchill Douglas Squires, formerly of Ayr, passed away at Freeport Hospital on Saturday, August 19th. A son of the late Elmer Squires and Blanche Hales, he was born at Dalton. Survived by a sister Betty of Ayr and brother Robert of Brantford. Funeral service was held with arrangements by Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, Paris. Interment in Ayr Cemetery.

    Elmer F. Squires Passes

    Elmer Francis Squires of Bute Street, Ayr, passed away in Willett Hospital, Paris, on Sunday, February I st. He was in his 89th year. Mr. Squires was born in Belmont, South Dakota and raised in Richmond, Virginia. He worked for over 40 years in Northern Ontario as a telegraph operator with the CPR. During World War I he served with the U.S. Navy. Some 20 years ago he retired to Ayr. Predeceased by his wife, the former Mary Blanche Hales, a brother Sanford and a sister Mary. Survived by a daughter Betty of Ayr; two sons, Churchill of Ayr and Robert of Brantford; also two grandchildren. Funeral service will be held today (Wed.) at 2 p.m. from the William Kipp Funeral Home, Paris. Interment in Ayr Cemetery.

    Mrs. Elmer Squires Passes

    Mrs. Elmer Squires, Bute Street. Ayr, passed away suddenly at her home last Wednesday. The former Mary Blanche Hales, she was born in Apsley , Ontario. Mrs. Squires was a school teacher, having taught in the suburbs of Hamilton and in Parry Sound. In addition, she was a free-lance writer. She was a member of North Bay United Church. The Squires family moved to Ayr 16 years ago. Surviving besides her husband are two sons. Churchill, at home and Robert of Brantford: a daughter. Miss Betty Squires at home; two grandchildren; and a sister, Miss Muriel Hales of Southey, Saskatchewan. Funeral service was held Friday afternoon from the Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, Paris. Rev. D. E. Willis of Ayr officiated. Interment in Ayr Cemetery.
