    Notes:

In 1999 while doing a historical display at Randy Jackson's Coffee Shop for the 100th Anniversary of Preston becoming a town .A lady in a wheel chair came in and told me she heard there was a milk bottle here from her fathers dairy. She said her name was Violet Payne and her fathers name was Oscar Alvin Mattes. She asked to see the milk bottle so as I passed it off to her she started to explained how her dad had a dairy before she was born and that her father met her mother while delivering milk on his route. As she cradled the bottle a tear ran down her cheek. She said she knew about the dairy but never seen a milk bottle and always wondered if there was one in existence she also told me her parents got married in 1920 and she was born a year later in 1921.She said her father gave up the dairy a year after she was born and became a butcher in town. I always wanted to find another milk bottle with her fathers name on it to give to her but sadly I could not find one and she passed away a number of years ago. I will always cherish that memory of her.
