    James Charles Cole, 78, of 94 Courtland Ave. East, died Monday at K-W Hospital after a brief illness.

    Born June 14, 1877 in Clinton, Mr, Cole was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs, Harvey J. Cole. A former employee of Kitchener Public Utilities Commission for many years, Mr. Cole lived here for about 50 years.

    He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Catharine Schedewits in November, 1934. Surviving are his wife, the former Ella Thaler, a son, James C., Toronto; two stepsons, Arthur W. Luening and Hubert Luening; three daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Verna) Kewley, all of Kitchener; Mrs. George (Delphine) Browne and Mrs. Arthur (Reta) Morison, both of Waterloo; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Taylor, Ajax; Mrs. Morley Totten, London, Ont., eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A brother and a sister predeceased him.

    Funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 3: 30 p.m. at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, where the body is resting. Officiating will be Rev. J. H. Getz of Calvary Memorial Evangelical UB Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.

    MRS. JAMES COLE

    The death of Mrs. James Cole occurred suddenly at her home, 1361 King street east yesterday, as a result of a heart attack. Mrs. Cole was born in Peel township on December 4, 1881. She is survived by her hnriband, one son and three daughters, the children being James Jr., at home, Mrs. Gordon Kewley, Kitchener, Miss Delphine Cole at home and Miss Reta Cole at home. There are four brothers, John Schedewitz, Bridgeport, Charles, George and Henry Schedewitz, all of Kitchener: three sisters, Mrs. Gordon Hughson of Ayr, Mrs. Albert Warner and Mrs. Oscar Miller, both of Kitchener. The funeral will he held private, from the home, 1361 King street east, at two o'clock, Wednesday afternoon, with public services at 2.30 o'clock at St. Matthew's Lutheran church of which the deceased was a member. Interment will be made in St. Peter's Lutheran cemetery. The remains will rest at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until tomorrow evening, when they will be taken to the residence.

    Simon Schedewitz, Woolwich native, who died in Kitchener Monday, was laid to rest in Elmira cemetery this Thursday afternoon. The late Mr. Schedewitz, who was an uncle of Councillor Albert Schedewitz, had been ill two months. He was in his 73rd year, being born in Woolwich in 1885.

    The deceased man is survived by four sons and four daughters. They are: John of Bridgeport; George, Charles and Henry of Kitchener; Mrs. J. C. Cole, Kitchener; Mrs. Gordon Hughson, Breslau; Mrs. Bert Warner and Mrs. Oscar Miller, Kitchener. There are also 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. One son, Albert, predeceased him 11 years ago.

    DEATH OF MRS. SIMON SCHEDEWITZ SUDDEN-DUE TO HEART FAILURE

    Extremely sudden was the death of Mrs. Simon Schedewitz, of Floradale, who was found dead in her bed yesterday morning by members of her family. When she retired for the night Tuesday evening she seemed to be enjoying her usual health, but it is thought that heart failure set in during the night and caused her death without even awakening her. Though she had never been ill, she had been troubled with her heart for some time. Her death has come as a great shock to the community.

    Born in 1854 in Germany, the late Mrs. Schedewitz came to this country when three years of age, accompanying her parents Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Zinkann, who settled in Wellesley township. She continued to live there until her marriage to Mr. Schedewitz, when they settled in Woolwich township. Two years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Schedewitz moved to Floradale, selling their farm about five miles north east of Elmira.

    Besides her husband, the late Mrs. Schedewitz leaves eight children as follows: John, of Bridgeport; Mrs. Cole, of Kitchener; Mrs. Hewson, of Woolwich; George, of Bridgeport; Mrs. Winfield, of Kitchener; Charles of Pilkington; and Henry of Floradale.

    The funeral takes place on Saturday afternoon from the residence at Floradale. Services will also be held at St. Paul's Church, Elmira, and thence to the Elmira Union Cemetery.

    An old Pioneer Buried.

    St. Pauls Luth. Congregation buried one of its oldest members on Saturday in the person of Conrad Schedewitz. Deceased was a native of Germany but had lived in this district over 50 years. He was married 57 years. His wife died a few years ago, 5 children also died. He is survived by two sons, 16 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. He died on the 21st inst. at the age of 85 years 7 months and 26 days.

    Mrs. Schedewitz, wife of Conrad Schedewitz, who lives with his son Simon about 4 miles west of Elmira. She too was of German birth, and experienced the hardships of pioneer life in the backwoods. She had been in good health for her age until about a week before her death, when she got inflammation of the lungs which caused her death. For the last eight years she was able to read, day or night without spectacles. Deceased leaves a sorrowing husband and two sons besides many grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She reached the ripe old age of about 83 years.
