    Notes:

Silver Spring Mill, Thos. Roesch, Waterloo - As a manufacturing centre, Waterloo holds a prominent place in this section of Ontario. Among the various industries that of milling holds a prominent position. Holding a leading place in this line is Mr. Thomas Roesch, proprietor of the Silver Spring Mill, which has been established since 1878, and since the inception of the business it has been greatly developed, the trade now extending throughout the Lower Provinces. The premises occupied are 40x54 feet in dimentions and four stories in height, where employment is furnihed to four skillful millers under the practical supervision of Mr. Thomas Roesch. The mill contains one set of rolls, three runs of flour stones and one chopper; the engine being 45 - horse power. The daily capacity of the mill is 75 barrels. The leading brands of flour manufactured are "Silver Spring,' "The best Superior Beauty,"'etc.: cracked wheat, Graham flour and rye fiour delivered in any quantity; also patent roller process flour, and the leading brand is the "Vesta." The quality of these is such as to cause an active demand for them in the Lower Provinces' markets. Mr. Roesch, the proprietor, is a practical miller, and has been engaged in the business for many years. He is a native of Germany, and has resided in this country for the past 32 years. He is a thorough - going, active and enterprising business man, who, by his own unaided efforts, has built up a trade of which he may well feel proud.
