    TAYLOR, John A. - Died at the K-W Hospital, on Thursday, July 22, 1976, John A. Taylor, aged 67 years, of 79 Regina St. N., Waterloo. He was retired from Cluett Peabody and was a member of Emmanuel United Church in Waterloo.

    Beloved husband of Helen; father of Bill, Toronto; Mrs. Harold (Joyce) Kastner of Trenton; Mrs. Melvyn (Judy) Beetham, of Waterloo and Mrs. James (Dianne) Witmer, of Kitchener; he is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 10 brothers and sisters.

    Private family services have been arranged. Rev. Walter McLean officiating. Cremation to take place.

    Helen Taylor (nee Bauman) was the beloved wife of the late Jack Taylor. Dear mother of Billy and his wife Mary of Etobicoke, Joyce Kastner of Waterloo. Judy and her husband Mel Beetham of Cambridge and Dianne and her husband Jim Witmer of Kitchener; loved grandmother of eight grand-children and 11 great-grandchildren.

    She was predeceased by one sister and two brothers.

    Mrs. Taylor was a lifelong resident of Regina Street in Waterloo and was an employee of Zacks Clothing Stores for many years.

    Cremation has taken place. A private memorial service was conducted in the chapel of Coutts & Son Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews St Cambridge, on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998 (today).

    Alexander G. Bauman, 79, father of Mayor Vernon Bauman of Waterloo, died last evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Taylor, 78 Regina (Queen) St., Waterloo, after a brief illness.

    He was a tailor by trade. After moving to Kitchener he was employed in the rubber industry for some time. He was born in Elmira on Aug. 21, 1871, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Moses Bauman. A member of Emmanuel Evangelical United Brethren Church. he also served as church custodian for a time

    Mr. Bauman was a bandsman for 42 years playing with the Waterloo Musical Society Band for 23 years and also with the bands in Kitchener and St. Jacobs. His wife, Catharine Gabel. predeceased him 14 years ago.

    Besides Mayor Bauman, he is survived by another son. Wilfred of Waterloo; two daughters, Mrs. Laura Snyder and Mrs. John (Helen) Taylor, also of Waterloo; a brother, Emmanuel Bauman, Kitchener: a sister, Mrs. Marion Meisner, Detroit, Mich.; 12 grand-children and five great-grand-children.

    The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. with Rev. C. F. Barthel, pastor, officiating, assisted by Dr. H. A. Kellerman. Burial will be in St. Jacobs Evangelical Cemetery.

    There passed away during the latter part of last week at South Bend, Indiana, Mrs. Moses G. Bowman. The deceased was before her marriage Mattie Geib, a daughter of the late Philip Geib and a sister of Mrs. Isaac Musser until lately a resident of Elmira. The Bowman family were at one time residents of Elmira where Br. Bowman carried on a blacksmithing business fifty years ago. They lived in the house now occupied by the Edward Campbell family before it was moved away to make room for the new post office. Mrs. Bowman is survived by four sons and one daughter. They are Alexander of Waterloo, Lincoln of Lansing, Mich., Emanuel and Allan of Kitchener, Mrs. Charles Root of South Bend, Indiana. The remains were brought to the home of her son Alex. in Waterloo and were on Tuesday afternoon buried in the Lutheran cemetery at St. Jacobs.

    Former resident dead-in the person of Mr. John Gabel, who for a great many years resided in this town where he conducted a successful tailoring trade till a few years ago, when he made his home with one of his daughters, Mrs. Aaron Musselman, Waterloo, where he resided till his death. The funeral was held at the Evangelical church on Sunday afternoon.

    OBITUARY-It becomes my painful duty to-day to chronicle the death of the wife of our worthy fellow-citizen, Mr. John Gabel, who departed this life at 11.30 o'clock last Tuesday, after about a week's illness. Deceased was born in Baden, Germany, on the 12th of September, 1832, and came to America with her parents in 1847. On the 18th October 1851 she was married in Rochester to her now surviving husband. In the following year they came to Canada and have been ever since lived in St. Jacobs. In 1901 they celebrated their golden wedding. Nine children were born to them, of whom one died in childhood and the following 8 survive: John, of Youngstown, Ohio; Jacob, of Rochester, N. Y.; William, of St. Joseph, Mich.; Catharine, married to Rev. A. E. Bogen, Lansing, Iowa; Mary, wife of John S. Leiu St. Joseph, Mich.; Lydia, wife of Aaron Musselman, Waterloo; and Catherine, married to Alex Bowman, Waterloo; and Daniel of our own village. 21 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren also survive. Deceased was a faithful and ???? kind mother and a good neighbor. The burial took place ???at the Evangelical cemetery the funeral service was held ???at the Evangelical church which ???with relatives and friends who wished to pay a last tribute of respect to the departed. May her ashes rest in peace. And to the sorrowing husband children I extend my heartfelt sympathy.
