    Rapacki, James T. - Suddenly, as the result of a heart attack, at St. Mary's Hospital, on Monday, Oct. 16, 1989, James Timothy Rapacki, age 64 years, of 206 Melrose Ave., Kitchener. Mr. Rapacki was a member of St. Anne's RC Church, the Doon Valley Golf Club and had been employed with BF Goodrich for 38 years, until his retirement in 1987. Beloved husband of Lorraine Rapacki (nee Knechtel), dear father of Jennifer and her husband James Knapp and Shirley and her husband Dan Flanagan, all of Kitchener; Loving grandfather of Ryan Flanagan; brother of Theresa and her husband Harry Lang of Waterloo; brother-in-law of Shirley and Frank Fixter and Harold and Shirley Knechtel, all of Kitchener. Predeceased by his parents, Walter and Margaret Rapacki. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, after Tuesday (today) 2 m, continuing until the funeral service in the Ratz-Bechtel chapel, on Wednesday 11 am, Father Gerald Hayes officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery.

    Notes:

    Knechtel. - Solomon Knechtel was born in Waterloo Co., Ont., Aug. 9, 1856; died at his home in Waldon, June 20, 1932; aged 75 y. 10 m. 12 d. He was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Lydia Bechtel of New Hamburg, Jan. 8, 1895. This union was blessed with three children: Harry, Edward, and William (predeceased) him in infancy).

    He leaves to mourn his deeply bereaved companion, 2 sons, 4 grandchildren, and a host of friends and relatives. About six months ago he underwent a serious operation at the St. Mary's Hospital at Kitchener. Just previous to the operation he was baptized and received into church fellowship by Bishop C. F. Derstine. On the evening of June 20, while getting ready to retire, he was seized with a severe heart attack, and dropped over and expired. His sudden death was a shock to his family and the whole community. Funeral services were conducted at the Shatz Church, June 23, by Orphen Wismer and Manassah Hallman. Interment in the adjoining cemetery.

    Solomon Knapp was raised by his first cousin Philip Knechtel and took the Knechtel family name as his own. There are conflicting dates of death for the mother and father.

    Notes:

    Knechtel.- Sister Lydia, beloved wife of the late Solomon Knechtel and daughter of Noah Bechtel, was born May 1, 1861, and married to Solomon Knechtel Jan. 5, 1896. This union was blessed with 3 sons (Willie B., Harry B. and Edward B.). Willie died in infancy. Her husband died June 20, 1932. As a widow she lived with her son Edward and family for 5 years. She died May 20, 1937, and leaves 2 sons and 5 grandchildren; 2 brothers (Moses of Winnipeg, Noah of Waterloo); 2 sisters (Mrs. John Geiger, Pandora, Ohio; Mrs. Christian Snyder near Petersburg), and many friends and relatives. The funeral was held at the home of her son, Edward, Petersburg, Ont., and then to the Shantz Church for services conducted by Bro. Manassah Hallman and Orphen Wismer. She was a faithful member of the Shantz Church for many years and will be greatly missed in her home and in the Church. The last few months of her life she was a patient sufferer of complicated disease, but slipped peacefully away May 20 to her eternal rest. May God comfort the bereaved family, interment in the adjoining cemetery.
