    A WATERLOO PIONEER GONE

Mr. Peter Fach, Sr. Died at His Preston Home in Preston Yesterday

One of the oldest and most respected pioneers of the County of Waterloo passed away Thursday, in the person of Peter Fach, Eagle street, Preston. Mr. Fach had been ailing for about nine months, but not until five weeks ago, was he compelled to take to bed. For the past two weeks he had not been able to eat anything, which made him suffer somewhat and his death was not unexpected. The cause of death was a growth on the stomach. Mr. Fach was born in Germany, seventy two years ago and came to Waterloo County, when he was twenty three. By great energy and much hardship and hard work, he cleared a farm In Waterloo Township, which today is the equal of any farm in the county. When he was twenty four, he took unto himself a wife, who, with eleven children, survive him. Mr. Fach lived upon the farm until two years ago, when he moved to Preston and has since lived a retired life. Deceased was an industrious and persevering man and was well liked by all for his kind ways and deeds. The family are left in comfortable circumstances, In religion, he was a Roman Catholic. Mr. Fach's familiar figure and jovial manner will be missed in Galt, where he was a frequent and welcome visitor. The funeral took place from his late residence, Eagle street, on Sunday, at 2 p.m., to Preston cemetery.
