Long time resident of Cambridge, Hilda Lownie (nee Kirby) passed away at Riverbend Place, Cambridge, on Wednesday, June 15, 1994, in her 93rd year. Predeceased by her husband Peter H. Lownie (Jan. 14, 1968). Dearly loved mother of Kenneth and Myrtle Johnston of St. Catharines, Ruth Spencer of Simcoe, Phyllis and Ernest Thomson of Paris, Joseph and Phyllis Johnston of Chatham and Ronna and Marty Power of Cambridge. Dear Grandma of 16 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 24 great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by 4 cousins and their families. Mrs. Lownie was born in Hespeler, Ontario, on March 23, 1902. She was the daughter of the late John R. Kirby and May S. Gurney. Also predeceased by her sister, Marion S. Watson (1992). Mrs. Lownie was a member of St. Clements Catholic Church. She was formerly a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Preston Legion, for many years. Hilda was an employee of Kralinator and Sheller Globe, for 31 years.Friends will be received at The Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge on Thursday (today), from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Clements R.C. Church on Friday, June 17, 1994, at 10: 00 a.m. Interment in Park Lawn Cemetery.
