    William H. Egerdee Passes - The funeral service was held at St. James' Lutheran Church last Tuesday afternoon for William H. Egerdee, the oldest member of the congregation who passed away Dec. 19th at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital aged 97 years. Rev. Douglas Reble officiated and interment was made in the New Dundee Union Cemetery. A former resident of this area, Mr. Egerdee operated a cider mill on the Huron Road for many years before retiring to Kitchener. He is survived by his wife, the former Madeline Schiebel; two sons, Frederick and his wife Rose of Milverton and Robert and his wife Lien of Victoria, B.C.; five daughters, Inez Surowic and her husband John of Sudbury, Muriel Zimmerman of Toronto, Bernice Rushton and her husband Gordon of California, Audrey Koegler and her husband Gerhard, RR 3, Thorndale and Donna Heimpel and her husband Robert of Kitchener; 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; a brother Ernest of Cambridge (Galt) and two sisters, Mrs. Alvena Schedler of Kitchener and Mrs. Bertha Boshart of New Hamburg. He was predeceased by his first wife Minnie Heimpel and his second wife Meta Annussat; his father, Frederick Egerdee and his mother the former Wilhelmina Hank who lived to be 99 years of age; a son and a daughter; a brother Gordon and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Toman and Mrs. Marie Weiss; a grandson John Koegler and one great-grandchild. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home, Kitchener and memorial donations were to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or St. James' Lutheran Church.

    MRS. WM. H. EGERDEE - Mrs. William H. Egerdee passed away early this morning at her home at R.R. 1, Petersburg, following a long illness. She was in her 57th year. Mrs. Egerdee, the former Wilhelmina Heimpel, was born at Mannheim, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Heimpel. She was married in 1915 and was a member of St. James' Lutheran Church, New Dundee. Surviving are her husband; two sons, Delbin of New Dundee and Robert of Kitchener; five daughters Mrs. John Surowic (Inez) of Sudbury, Mrs. Michael Zimmerman (Muriel) of Toronto, Mrs. Gordon Rushton (Bernice) of Kitchener, Mrs. Gerhard Koegler (Audrie) of Kitchener and Donna of Kitchener; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. John Bowman of New Hamburg; one step-sister, Mrs. Nettie Main of Glenbora, Manitoba; three brothers, Louis Heimpel of Whitby, Gordon and Edwin Heimpel of Windsor; two step brothers, Oliver Stoltz, R.R. 1, Plattsville and Wellington Heimpel of Kitchener. Mrs. Egerdee is resting at the Poth Funeral Home, New Dundee, until Saturday at noon when removal will be made to the residence. Private funeral service will be held at the residence on Sunday at 3 p.m. with public service at St. James' Lutheran church at 3: 30 p.m. The service will be conducted by Rev. Dalton J. Glebe and interment will be in New Dundee Union Cemetery.

    FREDERICK EGERDEE - New Dundee - Frederick Egerdee, one of the oldest residents of the village, passed away early this morning following a brief illness. He was in his 89th year. He was born in Germany on October 11, 1863, and came to Canada at the age of 17. On December 19, 1890, he married Wilhelmina Hank. After farming in the district for many years, he retired some years ago. He was a member of St. James' Lutheran church and sang in the choir until Christmas. He served on the church council for 15 years and was a former Sunday school superintendent for ten years. Surviving are his wife, three sons, William H. of New Dundee, Gordon of Ayr and Ernest of Galt; four daughters, Mrs. Fred (Alvina) Schedler of Kitchener; Mrs. Bertha Boshart, Mrs. M. K. (Martha) Toman and Mrs. Milton (Marie) Weiss of New Dundee. There are 29 grand-children and 28 great-grandchildren. Mr. Egerdee is resting at the Poth Funeral Home, New Dundee, until Friday afternoon. Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon with private service at the residence at 2: 30 p.m., followed by public service at St. James' Lutheran church at 3 p.m., with Rev. D. G. Glebe officiation. Interment will be in New Dundee Union Cemetery. (Note from newspaper) Believed a record - What is believed to be a record family for this district was left by the late Fred Egerdee, 89, of New Dundee, three sons, four daughters, 29 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, for a total of 64 survivors.

    MRS. FREDERICK EGERDEE - Mrs. Frederick Egerdee, 98, of New Dundee, well-known in the area, died yesterday at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital after a lengthy illness. The former Wilhelmine Honk she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Honk. Born in Germany deceased emigrated to this area when three years of age. The late Mrs. Egerdee was a member of St. James Lutheran church and the Lutheran Church Women. Her husband predeceased in 1952. Surviving are three sons, William H., RR 4, Kitchener, Gordon of Preston, Ernest of Galt; four daughters, Mrs. Frederick (Alvene) Schedler of Kitchener, Mrs. Martha Toman of Waterloo, Mrs. Bertha Boshart and Mrs. Milton (Marie) Weiss of New Dundee; a sister Mrs. Oliver (Hannah) Zinn, RR 1 Blair. There are 30 grandchildren, 82 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. The body will be at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until 11 a.m. Thursday when removal will be made to St. James Lutheran Church, New Dundee, for service at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Rev. Oliver Reppo will officiate. Donations to the memorial fund of the church will be accepted as expressions of sympathy.

    George P. Heimpel Dies, Aged 71

    Well Known Resident Predeceased by Wife Two Months Ago.


    Mr. George Heimpel, a well known and highly esteemed resident of this community passed away at his home Monday evening at seven o'clock. He was in his seventy-first year. Although the late Mr. Heimpel had been ill for several years death came quite suddenly at the end, the result of a heart attack.

    There survive two daughters, Edith (Mrs. John Bowman) of New Hamburg, Minnie (Mrs. Wm. H. Egerdee) of New Dundee, four sons, Louis Heimpel, of MacDonald College, Quebec, Gordon and Edward of Windsor, Wellington at home, two step-sons, Irvin Stoltz of near Waterloo, Oliver Stoltz of near Plattsville, and one step-daughter, Ennetta (Mrs. Bert Maim) of Glenboro, Man. Also surviving are four brothers, Henry Heimpel of Baden, Valentine, Conrad and Anton of Waterloo, and one sister, Miss Katie Heimpel, near Heidelberg, 28 grand-children and two great-grand-children.

    Mr. Heimpel's wife predeceased him only two months ago. The funeral will be held on Friday at two o'clock from his residence to Mannheim Lutheran Church for service. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery with Rev. Wm. Nolting in charge of the services.

    DEATH OF MRS. HENRY GERBIG, BERLIN

    The death took place on Friday morning of Catharine Degenhardt, relict of the late Henry Gerbig, for years hotel keeper at Mannheim, at the home of her son, Henry D. Gerbig, Peter street. Death was due to a paralytic stroke. The deceased was born in Germany about 69 years ago, but was the greater part of her lifetime a resident of this county. For many years husband conducted a hotel at Mannheim. He predeceased her about twelve years ago. Of late she had made her home with her sons and daughters. Two sons survive, Chas. W. of Detroit; and Henry D. of Berlin, The four daughters are: Mrs. Jacob Kriesel, Berlin; Mrs. Geo. Heimpel and Mrs. Geo. Schnellar, of Mannheim, and Mrs. A. C. Clemens of New Dundee. The funeral will be held on Sunday at one o'clock from the residence of Henry D. Gerbig, Cedar street, to Mannheim Lutheran Church and cemetery.
