    MAKCROW, Charles "Chuck" Claude

    Passed away, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Thursday, May 3, 2001, in his 89th year. Loving husband of Thelma Makcrow; beloved father of Richard and his wife Heather of Cambridge, Jim of Kitchener, Sandra Poulton of Lions Head and Susan Kehl and her husband Richard of Cambridge. Cherished grandfather of eight grand-children and 14 great-grandchildren. Chuck will be missed by his sisters, Ethel Bryce, Margaret Denney and her husband Mel and Dorothy Hurst, all of Cambridge and sister-in-law, Betty Makcrow of Kitchener. Predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Harry and sisters, Winnifred Stewart and Ivy Losey. Chuck was a longtime member of the Twin City Harmonizers and a member of the Second Career Octet. Resting at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas St., Cambridge, where the family will receive friends on Saturday (today) from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at St. Paul's United Church, 450 King St. East, Cambridge, on Sunday, May 6, 2001, at 2 p.m. Rev.     HENRY W. MAKCROW

    PRESTON, Feb, 23'97 Henry W. Makcrow, 107 Laurel street, died in Westminster Hospital, London, Ont., last night after an extended illness. He was in his 81st year. Born in Dagenham, England, the late Mr. Makcrow had been a resident of Preston for 25 years being an employee of Geo. Pattinson and company. A war veteran, the deceased went overseas in 1915 with the 7th C.M.R. from London, returning in 1919. He served with the army of occupation in Germany and was gassed and wounded. In religion the deceased was a member of the United church. Surviving are his mother in Lethbridge, Alta., his widow, three sons, Robert of Hespeler, Charles and Henry at home, five daughters, Mrs. E. Foulds of St. George, Ivy, Dorothy, Winnifred and Dorothy at home. Four sisters and six brothers also survive. The funeral will be held from the residence Friday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock. Interment will be made in Preston Cemetery.

    Mrs. H. W. Makcrow Laid to Rest
    Largely attended funeral service for Sarah Ann Siseman, relict of Henry William Makcrow, well-known Preston resident for the past 40 years who died at South Waterloo Memorial Hospital on Saturday morning was conducted at St. Paul's United Church yesterday afternoon by Rev. J. H. Herlihey. Numerous beautiful floral tributes also bespoke esteem in which deceased was held in the community. In her 78th year the late Mrs. Makcrow had been ailing for 21 years and had been confined to hospital seriously ill for a month prior to her death. A native of Reigate, Surrey, England, she came to Canada in 1913, residing for a short time in Galt and for the past 40 years in Preston.
    A staunch member of St. Paul's United Church the deceased was past president of the Golden Rule Bible Class and a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, while she was also past president of the Daughters of England. Her husband predeceased her in 1938.
    Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. C. Losey at home, Mrs. Joseph Stewart of Preston, Mrs. W. Bryce of Doon, Mrs. Cecil Hurst of Toronto and Margaret at home; three sons, Robert James of Hespeler, Charles of Preston, Henry of Hespeler. Two brothers, Jack Siseman of Australia and William Siseman of England, 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive. A sister and three brothers predeceased her.
    The Daughters of England, in tribute to their former president, conducted a funeral service at the Stager-Pass Ltd. funeral home at 1: 30 yesterday afternoon and formed a guard of honor at the funeral home and also at church accompanied by the Women's Missionary Society.
    Interment took place in the Preston cemetery.
    The pallbearers were: Ernest Thompson, Charles Thompson and Stanley Hall of Galt; William and Robert Makcrow of Hespeler; and Harry Elding of Preston.

    Boshart.-Jonas, son of the late Peter and Magdalena Boshart, was born near Wellesley, Ont., Aug. 18, 1866; died Sept. 13, 1939; aged 73 y. 26d. On Sept. 29, 1889, he was married to Magdalena Gerber. To this union were born 12 children: Moses (who preceded his father in death), John, Nettie (Mrs. Moses Gingrich) of New York; Mary, at home, Lilly (Mrs. Ezra Brenneman), of Baden, Ont.; Menno, of Kitchener; Simon, of New York; Aaron, of Petersburg; Gideon of Baden; Luella (Mrs. Clarence Erb), of Tavistock; Elmina (Mrs. Edward Witmer) with whom they had been living; and Loretta (Mrs. Eldon Witmer) of Kitchener. There also survive 2 brothers (Daniel and Peter), 1 sister (Mrs. Moses Schlabach), 39 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. At the age of 15 years he united with the Amish Mennonite Church, serving the Lord and the church faithfully until about two years ago, when because of location he united with the Snyder congregation of the Mennonite Church near Bloomingdale, Ont., of which he was a faithful and loyal member until his death. After a prolonged illness and much suffering he peacefully passed away to be with his Lord. He left a bright, ringing testimony of his faith in Christ up to the very last.

    Mrs. Magdalena Boshart, a native of Wilmot township, died last Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward Witmer, Hespeler, at the age of 91 years, following a short illness. She was the former Magdalena Gerber and was born April 9, 1868, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gerber. Her husband, Jonas Boshart, predeceased her in 1939. Survivors include five sons, John of Watertown, N.Y., Menno of Kitchener, Simon of Lowville, N.Y., Aaron of Wellesley, Gideon of Baden; six daughters, Mrs. Witmer, Mrs. Moses (Netta) Gingerich of Glenfield, N.Y., Miss Mary, Mrs. Ezra (Lily) Brenneman and Mrs. Eldon (Lauretta) Witmer of Kitchener, Mrs. Clarence (Luella) Erb of Sebringville; five great, great-grandchildren, 78 great grandchildren and 39 grandchildren. One son, Moses, died in 1917. Eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren predeceased her. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon with service at the First Mennonite Church, Kitchener, of which the departed was a member. Rev. Edgar Metzler officiated and internment was in the St. Agatha A. M. cemetery.

    HESPELER - Mrs. Magdalena Boshart, 91, of Hespeler, a great-great-grandmother of five, grandmother of 88, grandmother of 48, and mother of six sons and six daughters, died yesterday. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward (Elmina) Witmer of 28 Bella St., Hespeler. Born April 9, 1868, in Wilmot Township, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Gerber. She was a member of First Mennonite Church. Her husband, Jonas Boshart, died in 1939. Survivors include five sons, John of Watertown, N.Y., Menno of Kitchener, Simon of Lowville, N.Y., Aaron of Wellesley, Gideon of Baden; six daughters, Mrs. Witmer, Mrs. Moses (Netta) Gingerich of Glenfield N.Y., Miss Mary, Mrs. Ezra (Lily) Brenneman and Mrs. Eldon (Lauretta) Witmer of Kitchener, Mrs. Clarence (Luella) Erb of Sebringville; five great-great-grandchildren, 79 great-grandchildren and 39 grandchildren. One son, Moses, died in 1917. Eight grandchildren predeceased her. The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, Kitchener, until Saturday noon when removal will be made to the church for funeral at 3 p.m. Rev. Edgar Metzler will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agatha Amish Mennonite Cemetery. Donations to the Gideons will be accepted as expressions of Sympathy.

    FREDERICK EGERDEE - New Dundee - Frederick Egerdee, one of the oldest residents of the village, passed away early this morning following a brief illness. He was in his 89th year. He was born in Germany on October 11, 1863, and came to Canada at the age of 17. On December 19, 1890, he married Wilhelmina Hank. After farming in the district for many years, he retired some years ago. He was a member of St. James' Lutheran church and sang in the choir until Christmas. He served on the church council for 15 years and was a former Sunday school superintendent for ten years. Surviving are his wife, three sons, William H. of New Dundee, Gordon of Ayr and Ernest of Galt; four daughters, Mrs. Fred (Alvina) Schedler of Kitchener; Mrs. Bertha Boshart, Mrs. M. K. (Martha) Toman and Mrs. Milton (Marie) Weiss of New Dundee. There are 29 grand-children and 28 great-grandchildren. Mr. Egerdee is resting at the Poth Funeral Home, New Dundee, until Friday afternoon. Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon with private service at the residence at 2: 30 p.m., followed by public service at St. James' Lutheran church at 3 p.m., with Rev. D. G. Glebe officiation. Interment will be in New Dundee Union Cemetery.     MRS. FREDERICK EGERDEE - Mrs. Frederick Egerdee, 98, of New Dundee, well-known in the area, died yesterday at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital after a lengthy illness. The former Wilhelmine Honk she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Honk. Born in Germany deceased emigrated to this area when three years of age. The late Mrs. Egerdee was a member of St. James Lutheran church and the Lutheran Church Women. Her husband predeceased in 1952. Surviving are three sons, William H., RR 4, Kitchener, Gordon of Preston, Ernest of Galt; four daughters, Mrs. Frederick (Alvene) Schedler of Kitchener, Mrs. Martha Toman of Waterloo, Mrs. Bertha Boshart and Mrs. Milton (Marie) Weiss of New Dundee; a sister Mrs. Oliver (Hannah) Zinn, RR 1 Blair. There are 30 grandchildren, 82 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. The body will be at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until 11 a.m. Thursday when removal will be made to St. James Lutheran Church, New Dundee, for service at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Rev. Oliver Reppo will officiate. Donations to the memorial fund of the church will be accepted as expressions of sympathy.
