A particularly sad death occurred at the Kitchener-Waterloo hospital on Friday, April the ninth, when Elsie Rudow, the young wife of Jacob Brown of Elmira passed away following a lengthy illness. She had been a patient at the Kitchener hospital for about two months, where she had undergone several operations for mastoid and although at times she rallied the poison had gone through her system and eventually caused her death.

The late Mrs. Brown was born in Waterloo on the 6th of January, 1900. When six years old she came with her family to Elmira, where she has resided for the past twenty years. Of a pleasing disposition she was highly thought of in this community. On August 27th, 1924, she was married to Jacob Brown. Besides her husband she leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Franz Rudow, two brothers, Fred and William of Elmira and one sister Mrs. Annie Sanford of Toronto. Much sympathy is expressed for Mr. Brown also for Mr. and Mrs. Rudow who since coming to Elmira have lost four children.

The funeral, held on Monday afternoon, was attended by a large number of relatives and friends. Rev. L. Kalbfleisch preached the funeral sermon from the text Hosea 6,1. The following were pallbearers: Alvin Brubacher, Clarence Jung, Norman Ruppel, Bern Norman, Edgar Rahn and Harold Cress.
