    John Schiedel, "was born February 9th, 1832. He was married to Hannah Miller who was born November 22nd, 1831. They resided near Kossuth, Ontario, where they possess a beautiful farm. Some time ago they retired from farming and made their home with their daughter, Catharine. Some twenty years ago he was ordained a deacon of the Mennonite Church for the Cressman and Wanner fields of labor. To them were born five children"

In 1825 (about a month after their marriage) they, in company with the Clemmers, Clemenses, and others, moved to Canada and settled near Breslau, Ontario, where they resided until their deaths. He died April 28th, 1863, leaving a family of eight children"

    Hannes Schiedel, "the ancestor of all the Schiedels of this county, was born in Wurtenberg, Germany, about the year 1775. In 1815 he with his wife and family emigrated to America and settled in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, where they died, leaving a family (since writing the above it has been ascertained that here were two more sons, viz: Jacob and Frederick who remained in Pennsylvania) of several children. The names of two of the sons were John and Martin who were the only members of the family that settled in Canada."
