    Edgar Schaub

    The funeral service for Edgar Schaub, 88, of Elmira, who died Thursday in New Westminster, B.C., was held Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Elmira.

    Rev. Ronald Reisdorf officiated. Burial was in Elmira cemetery.

    Mr. Schaub was born in Wellesley Sept. 27, 1882, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Schaub. He was a member of the church choir for 50 years.

    He was a member of the Elmira musical society band for 50 years. He was employed at Electrohome Ltd. In Kitchener for 35 years and he retired in 1951.

    He was predeceased by his wife the former Lena Leinberger, in 1960.

    Surviving are four sons, Melville of Milverton, Howard and Clare, both of Kitchener, and Lorne of Waterloo; one daughter, Mrs. W.C. (Esther) Anderson of New Westminster, B.C.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.

    In the Family Register of 1st St. John's Lutheran Church, Seebach's Hill, on line 17, the names of Michael and his wife Anna Rohfrietsch are written along with their birth dates.

    In 1853, purchased property at Lot 22, Concession 1, Ellice Township, Perth County, Ontario, Canada, from his father, Valentin. The property, upon which was built a two-storey frame house, was sold in 1880 to Peter Rohfrietsch.

    Michael died at their saw mill, built on the bank of Black Creek, which ran along the property in front of their home. He was drowned when the planking that held the water back, gave way and the rushing water pinned him against the water-wheel.

    Notes:

    Messrs. Michael and Louis Schaub accompanied by their wives, attended the funeral of their mother at Sebringville on Saturday. The old lady's death was the result of an accident shortly after she left here about two months ago. She was in her eightieth year and quite feeble. The family were all present at the funeral, her five sons and a nephew, Mr. Geo. Schaub, of Freeport, all acting as pallbearers.
