    Martin. --- Elias Gingrich, son of Moses and Susannah Martin, was born in Waterloo Co., Ont., May 8, 1854; died Oct. 5, 1940; aged 86 y. 4 m. 27 d. He joined the Mennonite Church in his young years and kept that faith till his death. Jan. 18, 1876, he united in marriage with Anna Martin. They shared the joys and sorrows of life together for over 60 years. To this union were born 6 sons and 3 daughters. Two children died in infancy. A son (Moses) died in 1934, and Menno in 1935. Mother died in 1936, and a son (Sidney) Sept. 8, 1940. Surviving are 2 sons and 2 daughters (Elias M. and John M., and Mrs. Jacob Brubaker and Mrs. Elam Martin); also 43 grandchildren and 93 great-grandchildren. Father had what was supposed to be a light heart-stroke Oct. 18, 1939, from which time he was bedfast. He always seemed satisfied, but longed for the time when he could leave this world. Funeral was held Oct. 8, from the home of his son near Myerstown, Pa., with burial at Pike Mennonite Church. Text, Psa. 84: 2, selected by him quite a long time ago. Services by Joseph Hostetter, Amos Martin, Menno Weaver, and John Weaver.

    Gingrich.-Nancy, daughter of the late John M. and Rachel (Bricker) Martin, was born Jan. 19, 1855; died Mar. 14, 1936; aged 81 y. 1 m. 25 d. On Jan. 18, 1876, she was united in marriage to Chas.[should read Elias] Gingrich. To this union 9 children were born. She was preceded in death by 3 sons (Amos in 1888, Moses in 1934, Menno in 1936) and 1 daughter (Rachel). She leaves her aged husband, 3 sons (Sidney, Elias, and John, all of near Myerstown, Pa.), 2 daughters (Leah, wife of Jacob M. Brubaker, with whom she resided; Lovina, wife of Elam Martin, deceased, both of near Lincoln, Pa.), 46 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, also many other relatives and friends. She was the last of a family of five to pass away. She was a devoted wife and mother and was beloved by all who knew her. She was a member of the Mennonite Church for 62 years, and tried to follow the meek and lowly Jesus to the best of her knowledge and ability. She was true and faithful to the end. She was confined to her bed only nine days before her death. Several days before her death she had a clear vision of the glory world and spoke about what she saw. Funeral services were conducted at the house by Bro. Frank Hurst and at the Pike Mennonite Church by Bro. Amos Martin in English and Bro. Joseph Hostetter in German. Text, Rev. 14: 12, 13. Burial in adjoining cemetery.

    Moses Gingerich, "the youngest son of John and Anna (Hackman) Gingerich, was born February 17th, 1825. He was first married to Susannah, daughter of David and Mary (Martin) Martin. She was born October 18th, 1825, and died June 9th, 1863. The first marriage took place December 19th, 1848. After the decease of his first wife he was married to Susannah B., daughter of John S. and Elizabeth (Burkhard) Brubacher. She was born May 4th, 1837, and they were married on December 6th, 1864. They reside on lot No. 108, German Company's Tract, Woolwich Township, about two miles south of Elmira. The family consisted of ten children, seven of first marriage and three of second marriage."

    Peter Bricker," the eldest son of John and Anna ( Erb) Bricker, was born in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, November 26th, 1793. In 1802 he came to Canada with his parents who settled near the present village of Blair. He was married to Elizabeth, daughter of Simon Cress, who settled in this county in 1806. She was born February 17th, 1792, and died November 14th, 1854. He died January 25th, 1856. After their marriage they moved on the farm known as young "Daniel Snyder's" farm, within the corporation of the town of Waterloo, now possessed by the descendants of John E. Brubacher. Here they resided for twenty-five years when they moved south of "Huron Road," Wilmot Township, where they resided for two or three years, then they purchased the beautiful farm situated on the township line between Wellesley and Woolwich, now in possession of their son, John. Here they resided until their death which took place as stated above. They had a family of six children"
