Cambridge Historic City Hall was started in 1857 and completed in 1858. In 2010, an extensive renovation project was completed that saw the historic and new city halls linked, the third-floor council chambers updated, a new entrance on the ground floor built, new exterior stairs to the second floor main entrance reinstated and a new elevator installed.^{1a
