    MILLICAN, JAMES ALEXANDER was born in Belwood, a son of the Rev. William Millican. He graduated from Victoria University in 1888, and following a year of internship, settled in Preston. This decision was noted by the Preston Progress in November, 1889. In 1891 he was consulting physician to the Preston Mineral Baths. On November 3, 1893 in a wedding notice referred to him as Dr. J. A. Millican, of Galt.
    It is not clear how long he stayed here, but by December, 1896, he was in Chicago . He took a postgraduate course in Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat, and in 1910 went to Calgary, where he practised until his death on January 3, 1944. He was survived by his widow, a daughter and a son

    Dr. J. Millican, Specialist Dies

    Dr. James Alexander Millican, 80, of 1717 9th St. W., widely-known Calgary eye, ear, nose, and throat specialist, died this morning at his home. It is believed he suffered a heart seizure.

    Born in Belwood, Ontario, he graduated in medicine from the Toronto University, and for a number of years practised in Ontario. Later, he moved to Chicago, where he lived and practised for many years.

    Dr. Millican had been in Calgary for 33 years, and had practised continuously until the timeof his death. His offices were in the Southam building.

    A member of Grace Presbyterian church and the Lions Club, Dr. Millican also was a member of the Alberta Medical Association.

    Surviving are his widow, Florence, of Calgary; a son, Wallace, with the R.C.A.F. at Edmonton; one daughter, Mrs. Isobel McInnis, of Ottawa; a brother, Albert E. Millican, Calgary barrister; a sister, Mrs. A. Forbes, Calgary; three grandchildren.
