    Notes:

    One of the oldest people living in the city died Monday afternoon in the person of Mrs. Janet Hawke, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R.A. Hamilton, 60 Elizabeth street. Mrs. Hawke was the widow of Samuel L. Hawke, and she had been ill for about six months. She was born at Stirling, Scotland, 90 years ago, and came to Canada with her mother and brother when she was twelve years old. They first lived in Galt, then she spent nine years in Buffalo, and had lived in St. Thomas for the past twenty-nine years. She was a member of Knox church, and esteemed by a large circle of friends. To mourn her passing are two daughters, Mrs. John Harvey, Toronto, and Mrs. Hamilton; one son, Fred H. 30 Locust street; two sisters, Mrs. George Simpson, Rock Island, Ill., and Mrs. Campbell, Williams Lake, B.C.; also twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The funeral will take place from the residence on Thursday at 2: 30 to Union cemetery, Rev. J.M. Laird officiating.
