    LICHTY. - On the 16th of June, in Waterloo Co., Ont., of heart disease, David Licthy, aged 63 years, 8 months and 12 days. He was buried on the 18th at Martin's Meeting-house. Funeral services were held by Abraham Martin and Joseph Gingerich, from Eph. 5: 15 - 17 and 1 Pet. 4: 5 - 7.

    It becomes our sad duty to-day to chronicle the death of the oldest person in the neighborhood, Mrs. David Lichty (nee Rebecca Gingrich), who died last Thursday at the home of her son David near here, after an illness extending to some 14 months, at the ripe old age of 88 years, 1 month and 12 days. She was the mother of 5 sons and 1 daughter, name;--Menno, George, Daniel, John, David, and Nancy, of whom only George and David survive. Her husband also predeceased her about 23 years. The funeral took place on Sunday forenoon at Martin's Meeting House. We extend sympathy to the bereaved ones.

    John Lichty, (The writer remembers old Mr. John Lichty speaking of his grandfather and if not mistaken called him "John") "was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, July 21st, 1793. On April 14th, 1818, he was married to Barbara, daughter of George and Anna (Good) Hoffman. She was born June 30th, 1796, and died April 7th, 1875. In 1822 they moved to Canada and settled at Waterloo, Ontario, where he engaged himself to old Abraham Erb. From here he moved to Woolwich Township, on lot No. 43, German Company's Tract, on the farm now possessed by his son, George, and the heirs of his son David. Here they resided until 1837 when he moved on the old "Burkhard Farm" near the town of Waterloo, which he had shortly before purchased. Here they resided until their deaths. He died April 29th, 1878. To them were born ten children"

    John Gingerich, "son of Joseph (Joseph was the youngest son of old Michael and probably 24 years younger than his brother Abraham) Gingerich, was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, March 12th, 1788. He came to Canada with others at an early date and spent a few weeks at Preston with his cousins before he settled on his farm. He was married to Anna, daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth (Histand) Hackman. She was born December 6th, 1788, and died November 21st, 1862. He died November 26th, 1831."

    Peter Bricker," the eldest son of John and Anna ( Erb) Bricker, was born in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, November 26th, 1793. In 1802 he came to Canada with his parents who settled near the present village of Blair. He was married to Elizabeth, daughter of Simon Cress, who settled in this county in 1806. She was born February 17th, 1792, and died November 14th, 1854. He died January 25th, 1856. After their marriage they moved on the farm known as young "Daniel Snyder's" farm, within the corporation of the town of Waterloo, now possessed by the descendants of John E. Brubacher. Here they resided for twenty-five years when they moved south of "Huron Road," Wilmot Township, where they resided for two or three years, then they purchased the beautiful farm situated on the township line between Wellesley and Woolwich, now in possession of their son, John. Here they resided until their death which took place as stated above. They had a family of six children"
