  In Galt, on Wednesday, 8th inst., at 12:15 a.m., Catharine McPherson, relict of the late Donald J. McKenzie, aged 77 years, 7 months and 9 days. Galt Reporter Sep 10 1886 pg 8 ___________ Death of an Old Resident On Wednesday morning, Sept. 8th, there passed away another of the pioneer residents of this district, Catharine McPherson, relict of the late Donald J. McKenzie. The deceased lady was a native of New York State, where she was married to the late Mr. McKenzie, a native of Scotland. Over 55 years ago they immigrated to Canada, settling upon the Gore of Beverly, where they underwent all the privations and hardships incident to pioneer life. In 1884, Mr. McKenzie passed away and two years later the widow removed to Galt, taking up her abode with her daughter, Mrs. Robert F. Johnston. Here she continued to reside up to the time of her death. Mrs. McKenzie was the third eldest of a family of fourteen, only three of whom survive, viz.: - Mrs. John Buchanan, Branchton; Mrs. Dr. Brown, Brantford; and another sister living at Washington, U.S. The deceased leaves behind a family of three sons and three daughters, viz.: - Alex McKenzie, Paisley; D. A. McKenzie, St. Marys; Kenneth McKenzie, Kansas; Mrs. P. A. Marshall, Galt; Mrs. Alex Bell, Rockton; and Mrs. Robt. F. Johnston, Galt. Deceased was very highly esteemed by all in the community. She was a consistent member of Knox Church, Galt, for a great many years and died in the triumph of redeeming love. Galt Reporter Sep 17 1886 pg 1
