Notes |
- Demise of George Landreth - A citizen of Sterling Worth Passes to His Reward - The entire community sincerely regretted to learn of the death of Mr. George Landreth, which event occurred at his residence, Bute Street, Ayr, on Monday forenoon, after an illness extending over several months. The deceased had met with an accident at the C.P.R. a few years ago, but rallied and was doing nicely when he suffered a slight stroke and gradually declined. He was born on the 10th concession in the township of Blenheim and lived in that neighborhood the greater part of his life, coming to Ayr some 15 years ago. As a farmer, he was a worthy representative of the calling and possessed sterling characteristics that gave him a foremost position in every movement for the betterment of mankind. He had been an elder in Knox United Church for a long number of years, and his place in the community will not be easily filled. The deceased had been twice married, and is survived by his second wife, while a daughter, Mrs. Hugh Baxter of Blenheim, also survives. The funeral took place yesterday to the Ayr cemetery and was very largely attended.
