- After a lingering illness of about four months, in Galt Hospital early Monday morning, [August 24, 1936], in her 84th year. Widow of James Barbour, who passed away thirty-six years ago. Daughter of Neil and Isabella McPhatter, early settlers, who came to Canada from the Scottish Highlands. She was born at her parents' farm located on the Gore of Puslinch. She passed her early years there and following her marriage lived at Keady in Grey County, ON, until twenty-five years ago, when she came to Galt and established residence with her sister, the late Mrs. S. Clowting of 29 Spruce St. Mrs. Barbour was the last surviving member of the McPhatter family and of her immediate family, one son, Private John Barbour was killed in action at Vimy Ridge and a daughter, Mrs. Bella Buckley of Toronto passed away about nineteen years ago. Several nieces and nephews are her only survivors. Mrs. Barbour was an active member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Galt, which she attended with regularity until her illness. The funeral, on Wednesday evening at 8: 30 at the T. Little and Son Ltd. Funeral Home, was largely attended, with interment taking place at Owen Sound at 2 on Thursday. Pallbearers: John Herron, John Henderson, Melville Henderson, Solomon Riley, S. A. Smith and Wilmer Cook. Rev. J. T. Strachan officiated.
