- MRS J. BARBOUR PASSES AT GALT
Former Keady Resident Dies on Tuesday After Long Illness
After a lingering illness of about four months the death occurred Galt hospital early Tuesday morning of Flora Jane Barbour widow of James Barbour who passed away 36 years ago Mrs Barbour was in her 84th year
The daughter of Neil and Isabella McPhatter early settlers who came to Canada from the Scottish Highlands she was born at her parents' farm located on the acre of puslinch She passed her early years there and then following her marriage lived at Keady Grey County Ontario until 25 years ago when she moved to Galt and established residence with her sister the late Mrs S. Clowting 29 Spruce street.
Mrs Barbour was the last surviving member of the McPhatter family and of her immediate family one son Pte John Barbour was killed in action at Vimy Ridge and a daughter Mrs Bella Buckley Toronto passed away about 19 years ago several nieces and nephews are her only survivors.
Mrs Barbour was an active member of Knox's Presbyterian Church Galt which she attended with regularity until her illness.
Funeral services were held at Galt on Wednesday evening at 8.30 following which the remains were brought to Owen Sound for Thursday.
