      Came to Community in 1910; Was Former Plant 'Super' at Dexter Folder


      William S. Cameron, a resident of Pearl River for the past nearly 41 years, and a former plant superintendent of Dexter Folder Company, died Monday morning at his home, 140 West Central Avenue, following an illness of two weeks. He was in his 83rd year.

      He was born in Galt, Ontario, Canada. Mr. Cameron came to Pearl River at the invitation of the late Thomas Egan, Sr., who was then plant superintendent for Dexter Folder. Mr. Cameron became assistant superintendent of the plant as of June 1, 1910.

      Later, when Mr. Egan left Dexter Folder to accept a position with a firm in New London, Conn., Mr. Cameron became superintendent o the Dexter plant, a position he held until his retirement as of June 1, 1932. After a few months he was recalled to do some special work for the company, finally retiring as of April 1, 1940.

      He enjoyed good health until stricken a week ago last Thursday. After being hospitalized for a short time, he was returned home where he was thought to be convalescing toward improved health.

      Mr. Cameron devoted his life to his family, his home, and his work. He was not a joiner. His ony membership I.O.O.F. was in Viking Lodge,

      Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the Wyman Funeral Home. 100 Franklin Avenue. Pearl River, with Rev. Joseph A. Kelper, Methodist minister, officiating. Interment was in St. Paul's Highview Cemetery, Nanuet. Mr. Cameron is survived by his wife, Mary Anne; two daughters, Mrs. Donald Johnson of Pearl River and Mrs. Leo Nagl of Closter, N. J.; a son. William S. Cameron, Jr. of Pearl River; two grandchildren; a brother Daniel Cameron of Cuiohoga Falls, Ohio; and a sister, Mrs Charles E. Knowles of Galt, Ontario, Canada.
