A-1-11 Joseph B. Stauffer: The Last Will and Testament of Joseph B. Stauffer of the Township of Waterloo.
…I Joseph Stauffer, aforesaid, being weak in body, but of sound mind and memory…do make and publish this my Last Will and Testament… (First) I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Nancy Stauffer, the annual interest of three hundred pounds to be paid to her yearly during her life. I also give and bequeath to my said wife, one cow, one cooking stove, three beds and bedsteads, and as much other house and kitchen furniture as she may reasonably need for her house keeping, and if in case of sickness, the aforesaid interest is to be sufficient for her maintenance, then in that case, I authorize my Executors to add to the said interest for her better support, as they may find necessary, all of which I give and bequeath to my said wife out of my estate in lieu of her lawful dower. I will that my Executors shall as soon as conveniently may be after my decease sell by public or private sale all my real and personal property (excepting the bequests to my wife) and deed or deeds to the purchasers as the case may legally require, and I do hereby satisfy and confirm all such deeds as if assigned, sealed and delivered the same myself personally. I will that all my children shall have a good common schooling and be brought up in a decent manner, corresponding to my means. I will that my several children shall finally have, share and share with each other of my whole estate, excepting my son shall have fifty pounds more than my two daughters each. And lastly, I do nominate, constitute and appoint Amos Clemens and Henry Bechtel Junr, both of the Township of Waterloo, to be the lawful Executors of this my Last Will and Testament…
Witnessed by Samuel B. Bowman and Moses Bechtel.
