  DEATH OF MR. DAVID BLYTH - This old and well-known resident of Galt passed away on Thursday morning after an illness of several months' duration, in the 58th year of his age. During the period of a little over two years three members of the deceased's family have died from consumption, and now the father succumbs to the same fatal disease. Mr. Blyth was a good citizen, and for many years had charge of the cooper shop connected with the Dickson Mills. The surviving members of the stricken family have the heartfelt sympathy of our townspeople generally in their affliction. Dumfries Reporter Sep 22 1887 ______________________ In Galt, on Thursday morning, September 15th, at a quarter past 6 o'clock, David R. Blyth, aged 57 years, 8 months, and 5 days. Funeral, tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon, at half-past 3 o'clock, from his late residence, Metcalfe St., to Mount View Cemetery. Galt Reporter Sep 16 1887 pg 8 ________________ On Sunday evening, at his residence, 59 Vittoria Street, Ottawa, John Blyth, aged 78 years, eldest brother of the late David Blyth, of Galt. Galt Reporter Dec 23 1887 pg 1 ________________________ At Ottawa The death took place at Ottawa, on Sunday, 11th inst., of Mr. John Blyth, eldest brother of the late Mr. David Blyth, of Galt. The deceased occupied a prominent position in Ottawa, as the following extract from a late copy of the Free Press of that city shows: "There was consigned 'to his last resting place on Tuesday, the late Mr. John Blyth, of this city, who has been for over half a century a resident in this section. During the Prince of Wales visit to Ottawa, Mr. Blyth was an alderman and participated with the council in welcoming the Prince. He was the first undertaker who ever went into the business here and was an expert cabinet maker. The deceased gentleman left a family of three sons, one of whom is Trustee Blyth, of the Public School Board. He died within a couple of years of the ripe old age of four score."
