Notes |
- Death of Mr. Wm. McDonald
The illness under which this well-known townsman has been suffering for some months, terminated fatally on Sabbath afternoon last at a few minutes after 5 o'clock. Mr. McDonald was well-known, not only in Galt, but throughout Ontario, having been engaged in large public works in various parts. He was recognized as an authority on anything appertaining to his trade (that of a stone-cutter) and was foreman at the building of the piers of the International Bridge at Buffalo, and was also engaged on the work on the Welland Canal, and several bridges on the Grand Trunk. Mr. McDonald had also large business connections in the county of Huron, where his father resided. Since he became a resident of Galt, he showed himself to be a good citizen, and occupied a seat at the Council Board for at least one term. He was in the 52nd year of his age at the time of his death. His funeral took place on Tuesday.
