  Daniel Shelly Predeceased by his wife, the former Eliza Jones, in 1924, Daniel Shelly passed away yesterday in his 82nd year at his home, R.R. No. 1 Troy. He had lived in the vicinity of Troy, for over half a century, being well known and highly regarded. by his many friends. His birthplace was Preston. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Janet L. Stewart, of Troy, and Mrs. Elda May Roung, of Hamilton, and a son, Lorne D., at home. A daughter, Ivy, died in 1924. The funeral will be held on Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock from his home. Burial will be made in Troy. The Hamilton Spectator, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Wed, Jun 24, 1942 Page 24 _________________ RULING UPHELD Appeal Against Judge Gauld's Decision Was Rejected Canadian Press Service Toronto, Oct. 27. Daniel Shelly, aged 63, of Beverly, Ontario, retains the custody of his ten-year-old granddaughter, Mr. Justice Wright having this morning refused an appeal against a judgment of Mr. Justice Gauld, of Hamilton, under which Shelly was considered the best guardian for the child. The appeal was brought by Llewellyn Purdy, father of the child. On the death of the latter's wife, the girl was left with her grandparents.
