  STECKLY, Ernest - Peacefully, surrounded by family, at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, on Saturday, December 20, 2008, Ernest of Wellesley in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of Marcella 'Betz' (nee Bender). Born in East Zorra Township and predeceased by his parents, John J. Steckly and Annie Zehr. He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Judy and her husband Clare Wagler of Wellesley; his grandchildren, Sherry Wagler and her husband Jamie Gaulton and their son Jonas of Waterloo, Rochelle and her husband Chris Billings and their son Carter of Fergus, Beth and her husband Steve Baechler and their son Samuel of Wellesley, Ryan Steckly and his fiancée Jody Brenner of Tavistock and Tanya Wagler and her friend Damon Johnstone of Waterloo. Survived by his brother, Art Steckly (Norma) of Wellesley; sister, Edna MacQueen of Cambridge; and sisters- in-law, Mabel Steckly of Brunner and Olive Bender of Tavistock. Also, lovingly remembered by Lyle and Margaret Ellison of Listowel. Predeceased by his daughter, Mary Ann Ellison (1985); his son, Ronald Steckly (2001); daughter-in-law, Rose Steckly (2000); brother, Andrew Steckly; sister, Beatrice Leis; brothers-in-law, Norman Leis, Daniel MacQueen, Orville Bender, Wayne Bender; and sister-in-law, Geraldine Bender. Ernest owned and operated the Steckly Brothers General Store in Wellesley with his brother Andrew. He was a member of the Wellesley Mennonite Church and enjoyed wood working, puzzles, was an avid reader and enjoyed model railroading. Prior to the Funeral Service, a private interment will be held at Rush's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Futher-Franklin Funeral Home , 1172 Henry Street, Wellesley on Monday (today) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Wellesley Mennonite Church, 157 David Street, Wellesley on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Pastor Julie Ellison-White officiating.
