Elias H. Rudy
Elias H. Rudy, 62, died suddenly today at his home, 63 Church St., as a result of a heart attack. He had been suffering from a heart condition for a number of years.
Born June 13, 1882, near Bamberg, he as a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Rudy. As a young man he went to the Canadian West where he established a retail hardware business at Guernsey, Sask. In 1918 he married Mary Ann Shantz, who survives. The late Mr. Rudy returned to the Kitchener area in 1926 and had resided here until the time of his death. He was engaged in the upholstery trade.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three brothers, William of Centreville, Jeremiah of Waterloo, Josiah of Melville, Sask., and by four sisters, Mrs. Noah Snyder of Preston, Mrs. Ellen Porn of Redland, Cal., Mrs. Simeon Gingerich of Waterloo and Mrs. John Blodgett of Rochester, N.Y. Three sisters predeceased him.
Remains are resting at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until 10 a.m. Friday when the removal will be made to his late residence. 63 Church St., from where a private funeral service will be held Saturday At 2:30 p.m. thence to first Mennonite Church for public service at 3 p.m. Burial will be made in First Mennonite Cemetery. Bishop C.F. Derstine will officiate.
