- ST. JOHN'S CHURCH SETTING FOR MARTIN-DOWER WEDDING
Rev. C.C.W. Mixer officiated Saturday for the wedding of Mary Katherine Dower, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. H.J. Dower, Stewart St., Kitchener, and Mr. George Edward Martin, Weber St. East, Kitchener.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R.T. Martin, Omemee, Ontario.
The setting for the wdding was in St. John's Anglican Church, the interior of which, was decorated with white gladioli and ferns. Miss Nancy Parrott, cousin of the bride, was soloist. Her selection was "The Lord's Prayer", sung during the signing of the register.
EXQUISITE COLOR ON GOWN
The Peter Pan Collar on the bride's gown of slipper satin, was edged with cut work of French lace and gold thread. The fitted bodice of the gown extended into the voluminous skirt accented with inserts of French lace. The skirt fell to a slight train. A circular fingertip veil of silk illusion featured scalloped edging, and was caught to a Juliet cap encrusted with seed pearls. Her flowers were American Beauty roses and fleur d'amour in a fan arrangement
Miss Joyce Keele, St. Joseph's Hospital, London, was maid of honor wearing pale blue nylon net over satin. A blue satin sash girdled her waist. Satin detailing on the gown included the bertha collar and bustle. Miss Keele carried a fan of sweetheart roses and blue tinted carnations and she wore pink net halo and matching mittens.
Bridesmaid Miss Elaine Martin, Omemee, sister of the bridegroom, wore a similar gown. The net yoke featured a bertha collar and the bodice was made of lace and taffeta. She wore a blue net halo with matching lace mittens, and carried a fan of blue tinted carnations and sweetheart roses.
Attending the bridegroom were Mr. Sherwood Scheifele, best man, and Mr. Richard Martin, his brother, and Mr. Donald Francis, cousin of the bride, Mitchell, ushered.
100 GUESTS AT RECEPTION
Dinner for the wedding party and 40 guests was held at 6 p.m. followed by a reception at the Hacienda at which 100 guests were received by the mother. She wore rose crepe with wine accessories and corsage of delight roses. She was assisted by the bridegrooms mother who wore navy crepe with gray accessories and corsage of Banff roses.
Later, Mr. and Mrs. Martin left on a motor trip to the United States, the bride travelling in a navy suit with camille pink accessories and corsage of sweetheart roses.
When they return their residence will be at 581 East Ave., Kitchener.

George Edward Martin--On Sunday, July 8,1984, at K-W Hospital, George Edward George Edward Martin, age 53 years, of 43 Waverly Rd., Kitchener. He was born in Kitchener and was the son of Mrs Esther Howarth of Peterborough and the late Richard Martin; husband of the former Mary Dower; Dower: Father of George Edward and wife Debra of New Hamburg and Barbara (Mrs. Don Gillespie) of Waterloo: brother of Dick and Elaine (Mrs. Jack Coursey), both of Toronto, Gerald of Millbrook, Marjorie(Mrs Mel Voegtle) of Kitchener, Mary Ann(Mrs. Ron King) of Bobcaygeon and Diane(Mrs. Roy Zajac) of Peterborough Also Survived by three grandchildren, Jenifer and Edward Martin and Amanda Gillespie. Mr. Martin's family will receive friends at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S. Waterloo, today from 2-4 and 7-9P.M. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the funeral home, Wednesday at 2 P.M.,Rev. H.E.Janke of St Andrew's Memorial Church officiating. Internment to follow in Woodland cemetery Kitchener.

The George Martin Family (Written by daughter Barbara)
Mom and Dad met at Kitchener Dairies. Dad worked for Pepsi when Geordie was little and for Borden's when Barb was little, until we moved to Hastings in 1964. Mom worked for Mutual Life, then for Drs. Shantz, Austrup and Lawson until we moved to Hastings. Dad operated a sporting goods store and Mom worked for the royal Bank and later for various doctors and Civic Hospital in Peterborough. Before the family moved to Hastings we enjoyed our annual camping trips around Ontario. Dad and Geordie were involved in Scouting and Barb was in Brownies. Mom and Barb were involved with Guiding in Hastings for a short period. Barb is now involved with Guiding in New Hamburg as well as Jocie. We moved back to K-W in 1972, by then Georfie was out on his own and Barb was in High School. Dad worked as Custodian at Wilfred Laurier University until he passed away in July 1984. Mom worked at various Drs. offices and hospitals, her last job was at St. Mary's untill she passed away in April 1989. Geordie & Deb moved to New Hamburg in 1979 from the K-W Area. Georgie works for the Waterlooo County Board of Education and Deb worked for Stanley until it closed. Barb and Don moved to New Hamburg in 1980. Don owned car #29 in City Cab until November 1996. Barb worked at various jobs at Waterloo County Board of education and is presenly employed there. Jenn and Dave as well as Ed and Tammi all live in Alderville. Jenn and Ed are presently attending Trent University. Mom was MS Mother of the year in 1980.
