- August Ahrens
Illl the past 18 months, August Ahrens, aged 81, 73 Water street, Waterloo, died Sunday night. He was born in Germany and came to Canada when a boy. Prior to his retirement nine years ago he had conducted a general store in Hawkesville for 50 years. Since retiring, Mr. Ahrens with Mrs. Ahrens have resided with their daughter, Mrs. Aaron Schweitzer, 73 Water street. Mr. Ahrens was a member of Emmanuel Evangelical church, Waterloo, and of the Canadian Order of Forresters, having been a charter member of the former Crystal Springs Lodge of Hawkesville. Surviving are his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Schweitzer, and two grandchildren, Leland Schweitzer, Waterloo, and Miss Grace Ahrens, Toronto. One son, Elmer, predeceased him 15 years.
